Are there any details concerning the fate of Katelyn’s siblings? I listened to this the day it was released and I can’t get her out of my mind. I’m clinging to the hope that with her sacrifice she inadvertantly alerted authorities to the conditions they were all living in both physically and emotionally, and that hopefully they were put with either family members or foster families that would fill their lives with love and hope instead of misery and despair. Thank you, as always Justin and the Obscura team, for all the research you do and for sharing these difficult stories.

This was a difficult story to listen to. I’m a speechless!!! Other than saying that I hope this precious child’s story is helpful to someone else that’s is struggling.

I can honestly say that this story is the first to hit me in the feels. This poor girl apologized to everyone before taking her life. I hope her mother really got affected by finding her. And it haunts her for the rest of her life. Hope you found you peace sweet baby

I feel so bad for her. Her mom sounds like my mother. Its all about her and what she is going through while her child is freaking out. I hope you found peace

This really bothered me on a deep level. I've watched, and listened to some horrendous shit but, excluding anything animal related, this affected me. As a mother I wanted to hug her and tell her I'd keep her safe. The fact that she felt worthless when she was obviously a very articulate, intelligent young woman is just heartbreaking. She was apologising to everyone when the only person that deserved an apology was her. Everyone who came into her life failed her. The people who should have cared for her and kept her allowed her to be abused. The hardest part of this is the realisation that this isn't an isolated case. Right now there are kids in exactly the same position and there always has been and we never know unless they become serial killers or we hear about tragedies such as this one.

This episode was the one that hit me the hardest. I've listened to all of them. And this one truly saddens me. Poor girl.
