Hey, everyone.

Apologies for going quiet for a bit. If you recall the last State of the Game update, I said the next thing I wanted to do is work on the main character model: making the production pipeline more streamlined, as well as addressing its critiques from the public. I've definitely been working on that.

Starting with, most notably, the head.

By far the most brought up issue with the new model, it is very apparent that a lot of people do not like the "frying pan head", as some have called it. I definitely hear, ya. And I'm working on it.

In an attempt to make the new head shape more appealing, I used the head model from Miitomo as reference. Might as well take more inspiration from the thing the game already takes heavy inspiration from! You can see the differences in the heads below.

The head is also now a separate mesh from the body. This should help streamline some other things.

I've also been working on shape key correction offsets; morphs that will activate depending on different circumstances. Take the picture below for example. Left is how a character with fat arms buffs would look after the overall body gains a fair amount of weight. The right is with the arm corrective shape key applied so the arm fat doesn't clip through the body.

 I'm going to try to address as many of these as I reasonably can. CCC is a fairly freedom-heavy game. Players have near-full agency as to what shape and size combinations they want their characters' assets to be, and it's impossible for me to account for every potential issue that makes the body look screwed up. But I'll try to take care of the major ones (still not sure how I'm gonna handle saggy boobs).

There are other aspects I've been working on as well, but they aren't quite far enough developed yet for me to show them. I don't wanna get hopes up and show things that I'm not certain are going to work properly just yet. But sit tight.
Hopefully I'll be able to get to the new clothing system / asset pipeline soon! I really want that to be the proper backbone that this next update leans on.
