So, with the release of v0.1, we want to address a few things. Firstly, thank you to those who decided to pledge after seeing what we had to offer, it's very much appreciated.

Secondly, I wanted to talk about a few things that have been on my mind the past month or so. It's no secret that we're a pretty niche game with a skeleton crew. MONOLIGHTER isn't our main source of income, but we continue to work on it because we enjoy the idea and we enjoy your enjoyment of this project we've been working on.

If you think you can see where this is going; don't worry, we're not cancelling anything yet. If we did - and we've talked about it - we would need to cover a few things first. One, ensuring that our patron pledges are fulfilled. We have a backlog of NPCs to complete, and we will continue to make this game until they are all in. Two, ensuring that the game at least has a conclusion. Three, ensuring that to all of you, who have shown us incredible support these past months, at least get something else to look forward to. Something more substantial, better-looking, and - with god as my witness - with colored CGs.

Still, that doesn't mean we're cancelling. We want to know what you guys want to see from this game first. Things that are missing that you would like added to make it a better, more complete experience. Maybe we're missing a bigger picture that we don't see. I'm not sure. It's very easy to tunnel-vision during development.

We've tried our best so far, that I can promise you. I've personally worked very hard on each piece of dialogue, each environment, each NPC design. The CGs are plentiful, albeit a little 'too' stylistic, but you guys seem to like it, so I'm glad for it. But as of current, it's getting harder and harder to justify the work output compared to how much we're getting. That's not - and never will be - the fault of any of you. If a project demeans its audience for not providing enough monetary support, it is the fault of the creators for providing a subpar product.

Anyway, this became more of an address than I was expecting, but it's important that you guys know this, instead of the immediate termination of failed projects that many patreons have a habit of doing.

So, here's the deal: Tell me what you guys want to see from us below. Specifically, if possible. We'd like to spend the next update fixing this game into something better for you to play. More areas? Better interactions? We'd like to know.

If you came here to support us for us, and not monolighter, tell us what other projects would capture your interest more. Fantasy-based? A fun city romp? Pizza Thot? Again, we'd like to know that too. We love monolighter, and we know some of you do too. But we also know that a lot of you would prefer something else, and that's okay.

For now, I've disabled the upper tiers - those who have pledged this month to those tiers are still eligible for those awards and can PM us personally.

If you've made it this far through this wall of text - thank you. Tell us what you'd like to see - be as selfish as you want. At the end of the day, we're here to make something that you genuinely want to play.

EDIT: To people who have pledged in the upper tiers with unfulfilled pledges: any future projects will be done with you guys in mind. If you'd like your pledges to continue to go to MONOLIGHTER, especially if it continues development, we will gladly do so. If we end up doing something else, one of our top priorities will be ensuring that you will have retroactively paid for the equivalent tier in advance.

Stoike

From what I want, in the most specific I can be would be either more of the overall story or more interactions with the specific NPC's I like, both of which are very difficult things to do due to their generality. Sorry if I'm not the intended responder, or if my response is useless.

amagato

Not at all, Stoike. As someone who has been pledged to us for months now, you're someone we want to get the opinion of most. If you like MONOLIGHTER, we want to know why. If you want to support us in doing something else, we'd love to know what. Never apologize for the incredible gesture you've done.

Orexius

At least for me personally, I liked the project as it was going, and never felt the need to chime in on any kind of direction unless I had little ideas like my previous posts. As far as actual direction in my opinion, I really like the progression feel you've given with a few of the NPC's, working towards lewder CGs (Hotaru makes a good example) and wouldn't mind seeing some focus on current NPC's in that manner as well. The combat and sex animations with enemies is of course an enjoyable addition and I wouldn't mind seeing that expanded on when more enemies do get added. Aside from that and just general additions of lewd events with the current areas and NPC's, there's not much that comes to mind. I'm enjoying your teams vision so far and any silence on my part in the future isn't bad at all, to me it's a sign that I'm happy with the direction : P (And obviously I could bloat your game for you by coming up with more ways to just lewd everyone as always, lol)

amagato

Thanks Orexius! It's always a pleasure to see you on Discord and on our posts. We'll do our best to make things as lewd as possible.

You guys have done an amazing job thus far! You've addressed bug reports in a timely manner and pushed out quite a bit of content. Your work has been commendable. Personally, I'm here for the team more than the product. You're already promising a definite conclusion to the game, so that covers the biggest concern right off the bat. If you can finish adding in your backlog and wrap it all up nicely then I'd be perfectly content with that.

amagato

Thank you for your kind words. We'll continue to give MONOLIGHTER the treatment it deserves until it's time to set it down. I think we'd be content with that too.

I'm here mostly to support the team, though I REALLY like monolighter. Cyberpunk is honestly my favorite genre, and the style of the game is not to be underestimated. That being said, there's a couple recommendations I have. 1) After expending the conversation with an npc, maybe have a few different lines to be chosen from, if that makes sense. Like the noodle chef or the denizens. 2) More gameplay. Having gameplay makes adult games so much more rewarding, imo, so fitting in more would be a bigger improvement than more CGs or more NPCs, imo. A nice way to do this would be to make the hub locations more like jungle gyms, where you can jump around and have fun getting from point A to point B. 3) This is relatively minor, but I'd like to see it addressed: Allow jumping off of ladders please, and also allow more lateral movement during a high jump. It just feels a bit clunky, and I feel that's the easiest way to fix it. Other than that, I love monolighter, and I think it's a great game. If you absolutely must move on to other projects, I don't have much for you there. I'm partial to Pizza Thot (madly in love with Tips), but anything you guys have passion for will be good, since passion imbues a quality that can't be replicated. Keep up the good work guys, and I'm glad you care this much!

I really like Monolighter. Even for a smaller game project in such early alpha stages, its world and lore are legitimately interesting to me. It's the perfect amount of dystopian grime and slutty slime I like- after all, that's what cyberpunk SHOULD be- high tech, low life. All the different characters (and their varied body shapes/sizes/personalities) all seem interesting and entertaining, even if their entire character trees so far seem to be talk to>(insert optional mini quest)>get lewds>tree complete (which, again, is understandable, seeing as the game is so early in its development cycle. And not only is it understandable, but for some, considering this IS a lewd game, preferential.) This for sure is a project I want to see more of. But I can't lie- Pizza Thot is where it's at for me. All of the Pizza Thot crew seem to shine in the ways that the random denizens of this cyber slum can't quite live up to. Not to say that the characters in Monolighter are bad (which I must stress I am NOT insinuating), but for me, it's like comparing a water gun to a fire hose. While I'm interested in learning more of the Lensman, and his human companion, and some of the other quirky characters of this world, I'd much rather spend time chatting with Tips, or Boss, or Pineapple. The Pizza Thot crew all seem more like fully fleshed out characters in which a great lewd game could be crafted around, than a plethora of random citizens willing to pose for a quick snap shot and then simply forgotten. Sometimes a smaller cast can offer more content/story than having over 100 small, one time characters. Less is sometimes more, right? (Also, this would help you greatly on the development end, having to write/design/illustrate only a handful of characters rather than a boatload.) At the end of the day though, I'm just happy to throw my 7 Canuck Bucks towards anything Gats does. The dude is a treasure to the internet, and I'm happy to support any project he's involved in. Whether work continues on Monolighter, or a Pizza Thot restaraunt management sim, or a Gym Thot JOE/JOI mock fitness app that encourages burning calories by fugging thicc shortstacks while getting swole and slugging back protein shakes, I'll support him/Gobbosoft in general. Because at the end of the day, I'm curious to see what other fantastic gems of lewdity that Gats can put out, after already giving us pure gold in almost every other project he's ever been attached to. Keep up the great work y'all. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has nothing but confidence for the team, regardless of how small or inexperienced you might be. We all gotta start somewhere, and as far as I'm concerned, you're off to a damn good start.

Buzzbomber

I dig Monolighter, but I'd also absolutely fucking love a Pizza Thot game. Be it the management simulator idea you guys had, a VN or both, I'm very interested in seeing those characters fleshed out from an in-universe perspective.

amagato

Thanks for the response. We're also huge fans of cyberpunk, and the lack of cyberpunk hgames led us here to begin with, haha. Could you elaborate on the first one? Many of the NPCs (though not all of them) have a variety of different lines with the 'what's new?' option. Is that what you mean? As for everything else, we'll definitely keep that in mind. Gameplay is a hard thing to balance, but having the world be a jungle gym is definitely something we want to aim for. Also, I'm also in love with Pizza Thot, so that's definitely where we'll start, haha.

TopKoak

I don't really have much to say, but I would just like to voice how much I enjoy the work you guys are doing and appreciate how fast you are all with responding to feedback and actually letting backers know what's going on a regular basis, unlike other games I've supported that have gone radio silent constantly until the project was just shut down after months of nothing. I initially supported this because I am a fan of Gats' writing style and art, and the fact that I have a robot fetish doesn't detract either. The CGs have been great, and while I can't actually play the latest build (because I use a Mac and programs like Wine seem to have trouble running these games), games that are able to balance both CG and animated sex after combat were always a joy. I really hope you all keep the game going, especially since this update looks like things have really started to pick up, but if you don't I'm at least thankful that we aren't being left in the dark only to have it dropped on us after the corpse is buried. If you do decide to move onto another project, I'll definitely keep my support, even if only for games like "Now That's What I Call FUCK".

amagato

Wow! Thank you for the feedback. I was not expecting the turnaround - Monolighter also holds a special place in my heart, but I can definitely understand that crave for pizza. A gym thot fitness app is definitely something we hadn't heard of, haha. Thank you greatly for the kind words. It means a lot.

amagato

Hey, TopKoak! Thanks as always. Mac builds have been the bane of our existence for a while now - they just don't seem to like us for some reason. Sorry to hear that wine doesn't work either. Regardless! We'll be working on MONOLIGHTER for at least a little longer, but we're glad to hear about your support in the future. Especially if it's volume two!

I've been watching this space for a while, but the main thing keeping me from pledging is the fact that I use Linux. So a Linux version would be the thing I'd like to see, assuming the engine supports it. Other than that I'd also be interested in more Pizza Thot stuff. But I'm mostly here for Monolighter.

amagato

Noted! I'll have to look into how difficult it would be to port a Linux version over, but I think unity should hopefully support such an endeavor. Thanks for the response!

I'm not a patron, so I'm not gonna say anything about MONOLIGHTER, but I would LOVE a Pizza Thot game. I think it has great potential to be a fun, wholsome game with nice story and funny mechanics, considering how Pizza Thot characters are popular. Since it would be a porn game then I wouldn't focus on story as much as gameplay. A story can be a win or lose, so if the story writing is bad and full of text walls, then the player will just want to skip it all. If the narration and dialogues are interesting enough, then it will be a cherry on top of lewds. Gameplay as someone already mentioned (yes I read all of the previous comments) can make lewds even more rewarding and if you nail the mechanics and overall fun then the player will keep playing atleast for the nice gameplay experience. Please take also into consideration when making a Pizza Thot game, what game you want it to be. Successfull game in my opinion is eighter repeatable one or one that has one-time only experience. Will your game have such fun gameplay it will be worth playing constantly/repeatedly? Will your game have an experience that is unique by seeing it only once, but it so good it feels like a money well spend? That is for you to decide. When it comes to restaurant theme; anime like Blend-S and Working! are very good examples on how to show work at a restaurant as fun experience. Also, remember to check atleast 3 times to see if you can expand the game with more fanservice; it's a porn game afterall (but dont over do it, coz fanservice can be bad). So far, I imagine Pizza Thot game as a game where you cook, deliver pizzas, manage restaurant resources, manage guests, do quests for characters, but also experience life outside the restaurant as a normal citizen while for example going to a gym, riding a train on a way home. There are plenty of possibilities. I'm currently looking for a job and I would love to work on a Pizza Thot game, but since I'm a novice artist, I'm not even gonna bother to ask you. I just hope that my opinions and advices were usefull.

Honestly, I love the world, the designs, the writing, the whole cyberpunk--yet lewd-- aesthetic. The story, from what we've been able to see, is interesting, and I'm excited to see where it leads to. And I'm really glad it actually has some narrative instead of none at all. It makes the world itself intriguing and helps it have more staying power than just a flat 2D setup for lewds. I'm a fan of Gats' art in general, and even if this project doesn't come to full fruition, I'm glad it at least happened in the first place. And for what it's worth, I think this project has been handled remarkably well overall.

Anonymous

Honestly I'd just be glad to see monolighter finished(its a pretty damn good concept cyberpunk erotica), But i also pledged cause I enjoyed your art (and now the whole team), I'd love to see monolighter get some tighter controls and more cgs but i bet that'll come eventually....Something like a pizza thot game or etc would be great as well cause your style (and story) is pretty great I should add that I think you guys are doing great!

Peejteej

I originally found this because I was a fan of Gat's character designs, but what really drew me in was Cyberpunk erotica. Personally I just love the cyberpunk aesthetic, both visually and auditory, and lewd material featuring things more than human has always been a favorite of mine. To me, Monolighter was a good match between all of the above. While I would love to see more of Pizza Thot, or even that one sci-fi adventure style comic Gat's was working on, I reallly wanna see Monolighter to the end. Thank you for all your hard work!

Bobert Joe

As cool as everything that has been so far is, it would probably be more efficient to retool a lot of the assets into something a bit more simplistic. VN or point and click or whatever. While I would personally prefer the current system and mechanics, there is a hell of a lot of work that goes into making the platforming aspects of the game function, which if you are overwhelmed, is probably the most efficient thing to trim down on. Or maybe some sort of half and half, with stealth platforming missions and a vn hubworld, though I'm not sure whether that would actually be easier

amagato

Thanks for your thoughts! There's definitely a lot to consider when it comes to a Pizza Thot game, we're pretty overwhelmed by how much people want it to happen, haha.

amagato

Thanks Noa! We always love seeing your fanart, and we're glad you think so - nailing the narrative was what drove a lot of the world for us, so even if the game itself falls to a CG collect-a-thon, we're very happy to know that people read all of the text in-between.

amagato

Thanks! Monolighter getting tighter controls is something we've definitely had a hard time putting together. It's not a game that focuses on action gameplay, but the stealth style of movement doesn't always feel right either. We're not sure if we can 'fix' it per se, but we'll look into making it better, at least for subsequent releases.

amagato

Thank you! At the very least, we want to see monolighter reach a conclusion. It might not be the one we'd hope to reach, but we still have months of work ahead of us, so we're going to do our best regardless. Also, I'm glad you remember Sundowner, haha.

amagato

Depending on what we make, we're definitely going to be reusing our code wherever we can. Things we had originally needed to figure out on our own - movement, minigames, text, money - are all things we are hoping to use in the future. Making a platformer definitely put us in a weird position, so we agree 100% on the effectiveness of trimming down. In what form that takes - we're not sure yet. But hopefully something good.

A Pizza Thot game ala Diner Dash would be lit, I'd double my pledge

Anonymous

Actually, scratch that, a VN with Pizza-making minigames

Anonymous

Honestly? it might just be how some of the art and controls line up as some climbable (Or jump/mountable) walls can be deceiving, add in a little bit of funky controls sometimes and you end up missing the jump or etc (its not that often once i get used to the controls again mind you) but i believe you guy's are capable of improving it :)

Anonymous

I really like the idea of Monolighter itself and would be glad to see more areas with npc's to interact with, more cg's and stuff but if that is too much work you could make it more simplistic.(idk how to put it im not very good at explaining things) but i really like it the way it is all of this music and ambiante the atmosphere and stuff and dialogues make you imerge into the game. Also phat robo butts are great.

amagato

Thanks for the response! Regardless of which direction we go in, we'll be doing our best to keep the attention to the atmosphere up. Also phat robo butts are great!

This might be because I'm a freaking moron or something, or perhaps simply that I'm not a computer person. However I enjoy acGats' art and I enjoy the prospect that this game has and therefore lent a bit of help. Now I have a mac, so there might be my problem right off the bat, but even when I download the Mac RaR files and get them unzipped, or try to at least, I always get a resounding: nope. Even with allowing access for this download to go through security I either get that the application is 'unable to be opened/can't be opened' or I get 'this application is damaged or broken and cannot be opened' in that regard. Like stated I just might be a complete moron for failing to see something right in front of me that's the problem, but I have spent a few frustrating hours googling how to get past this problem with little solutions. Regardless, keep up the good work and I'm sure this game will continue to get only better and better in the future!

amagato

Thanks for the response! We're doing our best to get the mac versions working, but unfortunately, we're not having a ton of luck at the moment. A very simple to explain issue, but difficult to fix. Thanks again!

Bladestorm

Man sorry to hear this, I think this is a amazing game with quality I never expected, don't know what to say because I love the game how it is now and where it's going. But only thing I can think of is spread the word get more people to know about this game and spread the love. I don't know but all I can say I am glad you guys decide to bring this gem to life.

John Goodman

There's so many things I love about this game, the art, the setting, the gameplay, the writing, the characters. Its all really great. I think my only issue is with the CG themselves. All the scenes you have in the game are either just 1 CG or maybe 2, and the ones who do have multiple CG's are just kind of all over the place. This ruins the experience for me. I'm not saying you need to have like 20 CG's a scene like some other Devs do, but just a single picture a scene leaves a lot to be desired.

amagato

Thanks for the kind words, Bladestorm. We'll be working extra hard to make sure MONOLIGHTER leaves off in a good place!

amagato

Thank you Ion! Early on, we made the decision to go for quantity instead of quality, and spread ourselves pretty thin as a result. Going forward, we'll be looking towards spending more time on individual CGs, variants, etc. with what we plan to do next.

Hey! I stumbled across your game a little while ago, and decided to give it a shot. I gotta say, I liked it a lot. Even if the majority of the content isn't for me (Except for like 3-4 Scenes), I got hooked on the story and the design. The game looks amazing (Like really, I love the art style choice) and I love the character designs, especially Lensman (he looks cool af). Now, I haven't been following the project as long as others, but if I had to make any suggestions, I'd love to learn more about the characters and their story. Especially Lensman. The same goes for other characters, and the world around them. The games already really amazing and I love it, but if I had to make any suggestions I would probably say a few more scenes with the one off characters (or scenes for characters without them). Then for a more personal suggestion, I would love it if there were more scenes with the "male" characters. I love the CG of Quill and Thresher for example. Also, even though I know this is unlikely, I wouldn't mind some male on male action involving Lensman. Even some alone time with just Lensman would be pretty cool. Now I was thinking of backing the game (even if more male scenes aren't added) because of the story (and lewd cyberpunk and robot dicks) but this update makes it seem like its gonna be ending soon. Theres still so much story I wanna learn about to D: Also if you do work on another game, will it be the same team? I wanna see what you guys can do!
