Mao is an old friend and training partner of the Lensman. It takes no stretch of the imagination to consider the parkour skills of an android built for photography, and without Mao's help, Lensman would be a lot less dextrous than he is today.

Mao is a courier android, designed to get packages from one location to the other as fast as inhumanly possible. Drones are convenient for short distances, but the intricate urban sprawl and constant threat of thievery calls for more sentient couriers to take the stage. Thanks to Mao's job, she knows the ins and outs of the several major districts she frequents, making her a vital asset to Lensman's contacts.

It seems that Mao isn't without her own secrets, however. Away from the watchful eye of the law, Mao has caught the eyes of folk in need of her expertise, and in exchange for not getting scrapped, she moves packages she'd rather not get caught holding. It might be a living, but for how long?

And what will happen when Lensman finds out?
