Wop is a derogatory name for Southern Europens and Italians, mainly Italians. The origin of the word is unknown.

If the afterlife of Henry Hill interests you you should watch the comedy "My Blue Heaven" with Steve Martin and Rick Moranis. Nora Ephron who wrote it was the wife of Goodfellas author Nicholas Pileggi. When he was writing Goodfellas, Ephron also met Henry Hill and it inspired her to write My Blue Heaven. Now it's not a biography but it's a lot of Henry Hill's personnal touches.

Jeff Mills

The Merriam-Webster dictionary states wop's first known use was in the United States in 1908, and that it originates from the Southern Italian dialectal term guappo, roughly meaning "dandy", or "swaggerer", derived from the Spanish termguapo, meaning "good-looking", "dandy", from Latin vappa for "sour wine", also "worthless fellow".
