I'm most excited about the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. Its my favorite game series. MGS3 is the first game in chronological order so the remake can be played first.

The Talos Principle is very worth playing if you like puzzle games like Portal. I found the story very interesting and moving. Can't wait for the sequel.

Without having played it, I can say that Assassin's Creed Mirage is either the Fourth, or Second game, as far as "you need to be up to date on it". So, first Assassin's Creed, came out in 2007, took place in "The Holy Land" during the Crusades. The next 3 games are part of a Trilogy. (Assassin's Creed 2, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin's Creed Revelations) Takes place in Italy, in the times of the Renaissance. Then Assassin's Creed 3, takes place in America, back in the days around when George Washington was around. There was a spin off game for the PSP called Liberation set in the same time, but starring a different character. After that, Assassin's Creed Black Flag. The big fan favorite. If you only play one game from the early days, this is the one. The Next game was Assassins Creed Unity, which was set in Paris, France, during the French Revolution. There was also a game called Assassin's Creed Rogue, which came out on the "Last Gen" consoles. (So PS3 got Rogue, PS4 got Unity.) Next up was Assassin's Creed Syndicate, set in the industrial revolution in 1868. This one let you play as a twin brother and sister with slightly different skillsets. So then there was sort of a break. All of those were the "Classic" style of Assassin's Creed games. The next one changed things up a lot. Assassin's Creed Origins, was the one set in Egypt around 50 BC. It was more of an RPG kind of game than the action stealth kind of thing. Big open world, you level up, and face enemies that have levels too, it's not a day and night difference, but they kind of did a reinvention. Continuing from Origins, we have Assassin's Creed Odyssey. It's set in Greece in 431 BC. So actually set before Origins on the timeline. This has you play as a Spartan going against Athens. The most recent game was Valhalla. This is the one where you play as a Viking, and it's mostly set in the English islands, around 872 AD. Mirage stars a character from Valhalla, but it really doesn't matter. The games are sort of connected, but not really in any way you need to worry about. You can absolutely just grab the new game and start playing. Apparently the new Mirage game, will be "going back to its roots" and playing more like all the games before the last three. Like I've only played Black Flag, Unity, Syndicate, and Origins. I'll probably play the others sometime, but I would say Black Flag is great, if you wanna be an awesome pirate, or, just play the ones that have the settings you're interested in. I really liked Unity, it had some bugs in the early days, but by the time I played it I didn't encounter any. The older games can be gotten pretty cheap, especially on sale. I think if you want to skip Black Flag and Unity, Origins or Odyssey are wonderful starting points. Valhalla had some problems, so I would skip that, even though the new game is sort of a spin off of it. To take it from the official source - "Ubisoft has assured players that Mirage is a standalone adventure that players can experience without having played any of the previous titles in the series."
