Historical Fact: the X-Men were created as an allegory for the Civil Rights movement in the US. Professor X is based off Martin Luther King Jr. and Magneto is based off Malcom X (peaceful protest vs by any means necessary). Pointless Fact: Cyclops's "laser" beams are actually kinetic energy in the comics. He is literally punching people with his eyes.

Erik was separated from his family as a child because they were Jewish in Germany during WW2. He was being separated even before they knew he was special because he was still a child.

Rogue was played by Anna Paquin, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Piano at the 1994 Academy Awards, when she was only 12 (she was 11 when she filmed the movie) and is the second youngest person ever to win an Oscar. Yes, her performance in X-Men has much to be desired, but she’s a pretty accomplished actress.
