Do you know which streaming platform you watched on? the only versions I see have a 2hr 20min runtime.

George Baxter

I feel like Mary's version is somehow running faster? I keep having to pause and let the movie catch-up...

Wtf I didn't realize the Dark Knight was 13 years ago until you said it here. Wow

Hey, just a heads up Mary. Your audio is slightly faster than the movie audio. I'm not sure if this is because of Binge or a different audio issue, but it unfortunately makes syncing to your video impossible. Like George said above, you have to constantly pause and let the movie catch up.

As a scientist, I believe there is a simple answer to the problem of Marys audio speeding. My research has shown that time runs 2% faster in Australia.

Anonymous

Yeah, Binge’s version must be faster or you accidentally sped it up a little or something, because the time code was useless and there was a point where I made sure I was ahead of you, but then you managed to get ahead of me

oh that freaking sucks i am so sorry guys :/// ill look into this for the next react

The reason why the setting for Batman is normally so grim is due to it's origin. The character was actually introduced toward the end of the Great Depression where poverty and crime was on every street you turned into -- the mob and certain members of the police force didn't act too differently. The importance of a character like Batman is that he kind of became the hero many readers wished was real at that time period.

I know it's been said before, but it would also be *very* helpful if you included a blurred version of the video in addition to the time-code so that syncing is easier. (The blurred version makes it easier to sync to cuts in the movie.) I had to give up on this one because it was too hard to keep sync (or anywhere close).

Part of the Batman mythos is that he’s an orphan whose parents were murdered by criminals. Who actually pulled the trigger isn’t important, the important part is the impression it left on young Bruce. If you want another take on Batman’s origins, “Mask of the Phantasm” is another you might look in to.

Hey Mary. Batman is on both Netflix and Binge. Netflix is slower for whatever reason. IDK why.

Pretty good origin story. Funny to see how much you dislike Rachel, Katie Holmes and the semi-relationship. She's certainly the weakest out of this otherwise stellar cast; feels like WB forced that casting for Nolan since he wasn't yet proven for blockbusters and rebooting Batman was a big deal for them naturally. Guess they wrote that character best they could. She's recast in The Dark Knight.. For sure also had issues with sync, and must be the edit used in this streaming service.

It goes back to TV broadcast and AC current. Very early televisions used the timing inherent in the AC supply to synchronise the frame rate. This didn't last long really, as AC actually is never exactly 50/60Hz, so colour TV in particular is problematic. In fact, in the US they had an interference problem, so they had to use a 29.95 frame rate instead of exactly 30. Film has always been 24, which is pretty easy to stretch onto 60 fields (3, 2, 3, 2, etc.), but 50Hz AC countries need a speed up and gain a frame every second. TVs are digital devices now though, and they can play anything, so now it is just convention that dictates this dichotomy. Australian companies have to use the legislated field (i) or frame (p) rate of 50Hz to put content onto satellites or cables (on DVB-S and DVB-C), whereas NetFlix only deliver content over the Internet, so they can use whatever.
