That alien parody at the end 😂

Adam Grunther

In case you’re wondering, Mel Brooks is indeed Jewish. Most of his films are parody movies that try to push the boundaries of comedy. In my opinion they are hilarious. Blazing Saddles is a film that is definitely worth checking out.

Jemima Savage

The director of this movie Mel Brooks is Jewish and he fought in world war two so his jokes on the anti-semetic front should be taken with a grain of salt. He also liked to parody the idiocy of the nazis for their stupid beliefs of the jews..

Darren Withers

While Star Wars was the main parody here, there were references to other movies throughout, the most notable being “Alien” and the original “Planet of the Apes” which ended with Charlton Heston discovering the mostly buried Statue of Liberty jutting out of a beach, so you were right, there was a reason the head and arm resembled the Statue of Liberty.

Navjot Singh

I can't seem to find the uncut version of this. Has it been posted?

Unfortunately the merchandise for Spaceballs does not exist. It was just a reference to all of the Star Wars merch, which at the time was probably more than for any other movie ever made. There’s an interesting book that you might want to read someday called “How Star Wars Conquered The Universe” that talks about how much the movies became marketing vehicles for the merchandise, to the point where they make more money now off of the merch than they do off of the films themselves.
