This movie will forever feel bittersweet now that Boseman is gone... While I always think that this movie is SLIGHTLY overrated(keyword slightly), primarily due the CGI hurting the final 30 minutes or so, the strength of its message at the end cannot be denied. That speech should be forever remembered. Up next is one of the ones we’ve all been waiting for Mary, Infinity War. A part of me is hoping you get to that one quickly, because I’m on a three day weekend at the moment and that would just make it for me! Here’s to 2021 and the final stretch of your journey! :)

Opti_Frog

I haven't watched BP since before the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman and Letitia Wright outing herself as an anti-vaxxer. The feels this time will be interesting.

RJ Dough

I believe they've said shuri is the smartest person in the marvel universe that they introduced so far. Even more than Tony nd strange..

MotoDork

I'm not sure what happened but your video skips forward by about two minutes at the beginning. You are already mentioning the milk carton they are playing basketball with when I'm still watching the exposition about Wakanda and how the black panther got his power, despite the fact that I'm synced up at the very beginning.

Rashad Walker

I knew u would love this film! Buckle up for infinity war!!!

Rashad Walker

Mary your not the only one who felt Chad passing. Watching this now just hits different now.

Ryan Ernst

Beautiful reactions and cherished your respectful treatment of Chadwick Boseman’s passing. Thank you for waiting to see this movie until after watching all the previous MCU films. It means so much more that way. Wakanda forever!

Ryan Ernst

It’s closer to 30 seconds. Maybe a different version of the movie?

Rondo

WAKANDA FOREVER!!!

Infinity War next! HYPE

Matthew Periolat

This is actually the first time I’ve watched Black Panther since Chadwick died. I cannot escape this sense that what Black men and women lost was a mix of James Dean and Christopher Reeve. Marvel and the world can go on, but it is not the same without a unique singular personality like him. Best we can do is honor him as we go. So... Infinity War. Ohhhhhhh boy... buckle up kids.

MJ

Fun fact, did you know the guy that did the music for Black Panther also did the music for The Mandalorian and Community? Cool right?! I did say the music in this was going to be amazing ;-)

Stefan suchy

A really strong film with several good characters and relationships. T’Challa is a really good character who always tries to improve. He already indicated that in Civil War and it continues perfectly here. I also like his sister Shuri and Nakia who are both really great in their own way. I also found the relationship with T’Challa very interesting. I didn't like Okoye that much. Too aggressive in their behavior, they would have let Everett die and the blind loyalty to the tron, no matter who is on it. Other than that, a really good movie. I found the musical background good even if it is not my music taste. The visual images were terrific.

Kevin Mowery

Captain Marvel has the last MCU cameo from Stan Lee. Also, when you get to that one, watch the Marvel logo at the beginning. The entire theater I was in collectively sighed.

MJ

Stan has a cameo in Endgame

Rondo

I think Stan's cameo in Endgame is the last cameo we saw in theatres, but I believe Captain Marvel was filmed AFTER Endgame(?) so his cameo for that movie was the last time he went on set to go film a cameo. So I guess both can be right.

MJ

Guys... Infinity War is next... LET'S FUCKIN GOOOOOOOOOO! WOOOOOOO!!!!

Moua Yang

Infinity war is next....this is it...

Mitchell Scott

Hey Mary, do you know which day you'll be releasing infinity war? Not rushing, just curious!

I love your reaction to this, especially your understanding of the impact this film, and Boseman specifically, had on many. It really is saddening to watch such a great performance knowing he passed away in the manner that he did. Something things to note: - Ulysses lost his real arm to Ultron, so he had that fake one with a canon in this movie - Xhosa is a real language - The drink that he took pre-ritual takes away the black panther powers from the herb Personally I think the Wakandans were pretty dumb for letting a random guy just show up and kill their king when he clearly has poor intentions and knows nothing of their nation. Also W'kabi has to be the shittiest friend ever.

Steven Kuit

I believe it was done to emphasise the fact that desperately holding on to tradition and the ‘old ways’ can be catastrophic. It’s a little hamfisted but I suppose it works within the context of the film. The thing that always bothered me though is how they specifically refer to the ritual combat at T’Challa’s coronation as ‘challenge day’ on multiple occasions, but then Eric just walks up and demands another challenge. Would be proper exhausting tbh if anyone of royal blood could just decide to fight you to the death whenever they feel like it.

Anouar

I didn't like black panther that much, the story was good but overall a little boring for my taste.

Jorge Lopez

Really fun to rewatch this movie with ya, Mary! Like many others here, it was my first time rewatching since Chadwick Boseman passed away. I wasn't expecting the update to the Marvel title card, so that got me emotional right away! :( So sad that he's gone... Also, on a more positive note, I'm not sure if you know this or if anyone has already pointed this out in a previous MCU post here on Patreon or on YouTube, but I thought it'd be a fun fact to share. Ulysses Klaue is played by Andy Serkis, who is also a really amazing motion-capture and voice actor. He did the motion-capture and voice for Caeser, the main ape in the most recent Planet of the Apes movies. Most notably, he's also Smeagol / Gallum from the Lord of the Rings!! You might not have noticed him from the beginning of Return of the King when he wasn't all CGI though because he looks WAY different in those opening scenes compared to this role. Thought you and anyone reading this that wasn't aware of Serkis' previous work would enjoy that fun fact :)

Jesse Moreno

pretty sure the timing is off

Omni Jacala

Yeah, looks like after the timer started and the footage was taken off screen, there was a cut. Best place to sync is when the 1992 Oakland text is on screen.

Delboy0

are you sure you haven't seen the movie? Because you listened to album and knew Killmonger was Wakandan before the movie revealed it lol

Anonymous

I'm not hearing any sound from the movie, nor am I seeing the screen in the corner.

Maurice Jamian Cupido

With the uncut reactions you suppose to have your own copy of the movie and just sync it up. The video might get taken down if the sound and screens on whole movie.

Ulysses also plays Gollum in LotR. He's amazing. Seeing him in MCU always blows my mind.

Ok, so, first thing to say about Black Panther. I just noticed, there's a full commentary track by the director, in the "extras" section of Disney +. Really the Extras tabs are absolute treasure troves of extra things and deleted scenes. There's also a 21 minute "From Page to Screen" roundtable. And a 7 minute "Get to know the women of Wakanda" video. So if you're into extra stuff, check it out. So as for the Black Panther, I can't say I've read much about him. I know I've read Avenger's books where he was on the team, but he never really stood out to me at the time, all those years ago. I mostly knew him as the guy that Storm married. Storm from the X-Men dated a few people, but ended up marrying T'Challa, which was weird for me since I really liked her with Forge. Forge is another mutant who has the power to build anything. He had a really high tech house. The thing about the relationship I liked, was they got together at a time when Storm had lost her powers, and, he really didn't have any either, in his day to day life. I mean, yes being able to build is a power, and he was trying to get her powers back. But yeah, they were together for a few decades. Then the Black Panther thing happened, and yeah. Awesome stuff. It's heartbreaking that we'll never see a big screen wedding, because fuck. That would have been nice, a friggin superhero royal wedding. https://worldofblackheroes.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/41284_128541777191714_107854725927086_152817_3000275_n.jpg https://worldofblackheroes.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/41284_128541773858381_107854725927086_152816_2757565_n.jpg https://womenwriteaboutcomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/blackpanther18.jpg https://womenwriteaboutcomics.com/2018/02/the-wedding-issue-storm-and-black-panther/ Anyway, I also know him as the guy who's enemy was a massive Gorilla. Sort of. https://www.writeups.org/wp-content/uploads/Man-Ape-Black-Panther-Marvel-Comics-Mbaku-h0.jpg Black Panther though, has been around since 1966. That's longer than a LOT of heroes. https://www.history.com/news/the-real-history-behind-the-black-panther Sorry this one was mostly links, but they're pretty good ones I think.

This video has a like, chunk of you missing somehow. I was still watching the intro video, and you said "1992 Oakland California." So right after you said that, I paused you, until the movie got to a few seconds after that came up on the screen. Then it all got synced pretty good.
