I love that you’re powering through these. And I agree, watching movies can be a great distraction. It’s the same with me and riding my motorcycle. It’s therapy.

Damn it Mary! Now I can't decide.. whether to sleep or stay awake.. I have to catch a flight tomorrow back to Gold Coast! But love your reactions.. make sure you don't exhaust yourself..

marycherryofficial

uncuts are easy, it's the early access ones that are harder cos they're heavy editing, have a safe flight karan! :)

You are just churning these out. You must be becoming really engrossed in the story as this point.

AWESOME reaction and summary! Guardians of the Galaxy is an emotional roller coaster. Fitting shirt you wore for this film as well :) Avengers: Age of Ultron is next!

MJ

I did say that I thought this was gonna be your favorite ;-)

Fun Fact: Chris Pratt didn't have that good a body. He got into shape for this movie even though they told him he didn't have to. He felt it fit the character better and he wanted to do his best with the role.

A few things to clear up for you. Thanos is the overarching villain of this entire saga. So you’ll be seeing him again. By this point he was being played by Josh Brolin. Who would play him for the rest of the saga. As for mention of SHIELD. From a movie standpoint , the organization is gone. Finished, the only ones left to protect the Earth now are the Avengers. And that’s going to play into the next Avengers movie, which is up next.

Woman u are pushing these movies out at an unbelievable rate....I love it!!!

Lemuel Daher

You are entering GOAT streamer territory at this rate

Damn it Mary, 2 new MCU videos this fast, has me back as a Patreon even sooner than I had hoped. Screw that electric bill right? LOL Also, I haven’t watched this reaction yet, so maybe you talk about it, but Thanos from this film is the person you saw in the mid-credit scene of The Avengers. He’s “the” bad guy of the entire MCU. Last thing, you said they should give the stone to SHIELD. There literally is no more SHIELD. Cap meant what he said, he took down HYDRA and SHIELD both at the end of Winter Soldier. SHIELD is no longer in existence. That’s why Fury chose to let people continue believing he was dead and why Agent Hill was interviewing at Stark.

Agreed, GotG is not just one of my favorite MCU films, its simply a favorite film. I love this film so much. James Gunn, the director, was a bold choice by Marvel. He's an alumnus of the 'Troma' studio, infamous for gory and irreverent B movies. Gunn produced a savage deconstruction of the superhero genre with 2010's "Super." I was really surprised when he was picked to direct an MCU film -- a B movie director with as many misses as hits, to film a big budget adaptation of a comic book team that almost no one had ever heard of. And starring then-pudgy Chris Pratt from Parks and Recreation of all people. Absolutely amazing job by everyone involved.

Fantastic reaction, Mary. We knew you'd love it, or hoped you would, and thrilled you do! The scene of Groot's sacrifice makes me teary-eyed too. I'd rather leave a happy note, so here was one of the songs you loved - Cherry Bomb! (fyi, it's also a type of firework) https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=xMKeIQJ_a9s&feature=share

Jayson Phillips

Look up the singer of Cherry Bomb....you will get a kick out of it

If you like misfits teaming up in space with comedy..FIREFLY might be for you

A really great movie that plays with emotions. Sometimes you want to cry because it's so sad and immediately afterwards it's incredibly funny again.

Luis

Fargo Season 2 vibes in those first few minutes ;)

Kevin T

Such a great movie, and the soundtrack absolutely slaps

Great reaction, Mary! I feel like GOTG Vol 1 is the film that finally showcased the full range and depth of the storytelling that has happened over the last 50 years at Marvel comics. A great cast, strong themes, an emotional center. Self sacrifice, the genesis of the team, loss and redemption and the tie in to the greater MCU etc make this my SECOND favorite MCU film!

So, first things first, when I was a kid, I also wasn't allowed to watch the X-Files. But, I loved watching the show. I remember specifically, a story around that. I was at my, dad's dad's house, for a big wedding. I was upstairs in My Grandad's bedroom watching the X-Files, while everyone else was doing something, I dono what, probably talking about politics. The episode was the one with the Loch Ness Monster. Where Mulder gets super obsessed with finding it. (Also, one of the most mild episodes there is as far as content. Since the episode isn't even about the monster of the week, so much as Mulder's willingness to believe so easily, and all that. ) Anyway my little cousin, came up and watched a bit of the show with me, and then went and blabbed. So my dad came up to me and said "I'm not going to punish you now, but when we get home, you're in trouble" I don't remember the punishment at all, or even if there was one. But that is one of my strongest childhood memories. Anyway, as for the Guardians. There's so much stuff in this movie. It's just, dense. It seems silly but what happened here is amazing. ALL of the characters were new. At the time, people were saying it was going to bomb since no one knew who any of the characters were. Of course, in the comix they were all established, but still obscure. So, Drax the Destroyer was created in some complex way, to kill Thanos. He was like, built in some ritual or something. His first ever appearance was in an Iron Man comic. Gamora was introduced as "The most dangerous woman in the galaxy", and was always Thanos' daughter. Her early adventures were with a guy named Adam Warlock, who was very tied to the infinity stones. He actually had one on his head, the soul stone. So, technically Groot was first, but it was just a tree monster that had very little to do with Groot as we know him. Yondu, was... well ok, so. What most people know as the Guardians of the Galaxy, were like, the second team to use that name. The Original Guardians had No Groot, Rocket, Star-Lord, Gamora, or Drax. It was Yondu, Vance Astro (A guy from the future who had Captain America's Shield), Martinex (Who is like, a guy made of crystal) Starhawk (Wasn't an actual founding member), and Charlie-27 Who comes from Jupiter. But Gamora and Drax have been around in the MCU for a long time, doing space stuff, just not at Guardians at first. Star Lord himself was created in 1976, so he's been around a while. Drax was 3 years earlier in 1973, Gamora was in the middle, in 1975. Like I said, Groot was TECHNICALLY created in 1960. That's 2 years before even Spider-Man. Groot was "The Monster from Planet X" And was indeed a tree monster. Groot as we know him was reinvented in 2007. (So even though he was the oldest one, he was also the youngest at only 7 years of existence at the time of the movie) Rocket first showed up in 1976, but then kind of vanished for a bit, until he showed up in an issue of Incredible Hulk in 1982, and he was so popular there, he got his own 4-Part story in 1985. He was in a few other things, but really wasn't seen until 2007, when he showed up again with Groot. Hope this wasn't all super boring! But yeah, the point is, these guys all existed solo in the comics for a while. It's just nutzo how Marvel can take guys created in the 70's, and show them to the world as new characters no one has ever seen before.
