Nice reaction. The issue with the Hulk is that Banner didn’t want power but had this thrust upon him. He considers the Hulk a monster because of the destruction he causes whenever he comes out and the Hulk often times teeters on the line of losing control and doesn’t necessarily care if he kills someone. Bruce cares a great deal and is always at war with himself because of the guilt he feels. Even when the Hulk comes out, Bruce has a semblance of control, being like the angel on the shoulder or the Hulk’s conscience. It’s because of this that the Hulk seems to be smaller and weaker than some of his opponents, but the Hulk is also nowhere near his upper limits of power. His enemies, such as Abomination in this movie, are at their upper limits because they embrace and even desire more power. Bruce doesn’t want it and tries to keep the Hulk in check, but the angrier the Hulk gets, the more powerful he gets. In the comics, he would even grow in size (to a point) as he got angrier. They toyed with this in the 2003 version with Eric Bana. I think that’s part of what makes the character so great is the man vs. himself struggle that constantly happens. Bruce is a good man with no power. The Hulk is a rage monster with lots of power that could take down an entire city or more. In true 1960’s fashion, and you mentioned it in the movie with the Beauty and the Beast reference, it’s only the love of Betty who can get through the rage that explodes from him to bring him back to himself...but she is also the one who would make him lose control the fastest if something happened to her. The security guy is actually the one who played the Hulk in the 1970’s tv show. His name is Lou Ferrigno (I probably messed the spelling up there), and he used to be a champion bodybuilder. Mr. Blue having the blood get into his system where his head begins pulsing is them setting up another Hulk enemy called The Leader, which will probably never get a payoff until Marvel owns the rights to Hulk completely, something they haven’t for awhile, that’s why you only really see him in collaboration movies under Marvel.
