my cousin (computer guy of 15 yrs) has built a pc before, recommends i buy prebuilt from reputable retailer https://www.msy.com.au/mspec-gaming-pc in sydney. games i've decided to play: Final Fantasy VII, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1 &2, Witcher, Red Dead Redemption. Requirements (cos I'll be editing on it too) i looked at the site and i can't tell which one is the best for the above. all i know is that i need a corei7, 32gb ram and 4k monitor (i guess 1080p would do fine too) - anyone have any thoughts or recommendations? x Thanks in advance

They have really good pre-made towers on Amazon. I got mine 3 years ago and is still kicking ass! i7 is best also graphics card GeForce GTX 6600 or better and I would get 1 tb of storage for videos and games.

I recommend getting an internal SSD for your OS and your games and then a larger mechanical hard drive for your storage needs.

i7 is tope end but i5 will also work, for video you will need the graphics card and memory like above, 2.9 Hz to 3.2 Hz processor is good, but want a lot of HD memory for videos but if you have to you can buy an external hard drive to just plug in if need to.

Any reason for the i7 other than quicksync? as a AMD Ryzen cpu would eat it alive and supports newer features on the motherboard and its cheaper, I'd get a Nvidia GPU just because the drivers are more stable IMO and I say that as a current AMD Radeon card owner. GPU choice at a lower end a GTX 1660 Super, mid range a RTX 2060 super or 2070 super or if you can wait a couple of weeks the RTX 3070 will be out. The RTX 3080 is basically sold everywhere due to high demand. Most of those games you have mentioned are old enough that even the 1660 can run them at 4K apart from RDR2 which is a bit of a pig resource wise. 1440P is doable for recent titles on all those cards above. I have Benq 4K monitor that has HDR support and I use for both my PC and Consoles.

Good choices on the selected games to play! The Star Wars KTOR (Knights of the Old Republic) games are REALLY good and still very popular to this day! If you ever wondered what all was going on wayyyyy before Anakin's and Luke's time, the KTOR games and some other Star Wars games, tells a lot more about the lore to Star Wars as a whole, which in turns makes the movies more sense on just how powerful the Force really is lol. Also, Final Fantasy VII is a really good game too!

Also, when you do get everything set up to play these games, do you plan on streaming them on Twitch because i've noticed that you recently made a twitch account or do you plan on streaming the games directly through Youtube? Also, you do a very good job on making videos and trying to provide the best quality you can to them. I understand how hard and time consuming everything takes. So keep up the good work because you do a VERY good job :)

Browsed the prebuilt PCs at the link provided. Didn’t see any with 32GB RAM. Most come with 16GB. Do you want the additional RAM to support video editing?

Ooh 2 of the games I mentioned in the livestream (KOTOR and Mass Effect)! RAM: As others have mentioned but you don't need more than 16gigs of RAM, heck even 8 will suffice. CPU: An i7 is great but AMD Ryzen 5 (3600x) or 7(3700x) are both fantastic as well (and cheaper). IIRC the Ryzen 7 is better for streaming than the i7. Monitors: You will want one that your Graphics Card and CPU can make the most of. But if you are looking for best value I'd say 1440p at 27" is considered the sweet spot.

Great choice of games Mary :) You can also check out Plants vs Zombies or Among Us games and they don't need powerful PC to play. Having an Internal SSD Drive is important for fast performance when doing work on the PC and installing your games on, it will makes your life sweeter ;) Currently i am using a 27" Samsung Curved Monitor, for me over the years i've discovered that 27" is the sweet spot when gaming or watching movies. You can check out a YT review of it here @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psTMTsSHJlQ

Honestly, the games you're planning on playing are all pretty old, so you can get away with way less hardware than what you listed. But if you want a decent "bang for your buck" configuration that can also play modern games down the line, I would recommend: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600. Great price to performance CPU for gaming. RAM: 16gb GPU: Probably like a 2060 Super which is currently around $300-350 Monitor: You definitely don't need 4k, and the games you listed are so old I'm not even sure they support 4k. I would go with a 1440p 144hz monitor personally. Hard Drive: definitely invest in a 512gb or 1tb SSD to play your games on, the load times will be so much faster compared to an HDD, you will definitely notice a HUGE difference investing in this one component.

Just one thing that no one has mentioned: you should get a second monitor. It will be much easier for you to have a game on one screen and your streaming windows on the other. You might need to get a DisplayPort to HDMI converter, as most graphics cards have a single HDMI port.
