I believe 1st season happens in a 33-years cycle between 1953-1986-2019-2052 (the year when Johnas lands in the future), starting in July and finishing in November/December. In season 2 we start on the 21st of July? 1954-1987-2020-2053. Every day in the calendar passes by at the same time on the other years of the cycle. And older Johnas just said that the portal at the caves can no longer be used to travel through time since he fudged things up big time. Since Johnas in the future has no time machine, he is stuck.

Also, note that there is a short tick-tock sound whenever we move from one timeline scene to another to help with the time jump narration.

It's kind of disheartening to hear that you're getting some "spoilery" stuff in the YT comments. Although, I do have to admit, I almost clarified something (minor) for you here the other day before realizing it really wasn't meant to be clarified until the next episode. This show reveals things so oddly; with characters FROM different times, IN different times, plodding along the separate timeline of the story/show itself. It's a bit of a tightrope walk - trying to dispel confusions and revealing too much. That being said, the Helge spoiler you discussed is a pretty huge and blatant one. It's hard for me to imagine someone spilling that on accident completely. I just hope, maybe with the second season only being eight episodes, you're able to burn through it quickly enough to not have anything major spoiled for you!

Another interesting thing with Dark is the joy of trying not only to follow everyone's journey but also the journeys of some objects that have when passing by people's hands and traveling through time. For example, in season 1 we have the suicide letter, the book of Tannhaus, and the time machine itself as well, creating timeline paradoxes. Also, the gun passed from Alexander to Hanna who was about to kill herself with it. If you see any other objects let us know... One last interesting object is Johnas raincoat, which is different between 2019 Johnas and the future Johnas. I like to think of it as a symbolism between young Johnas wearing a yellow coat ( = naive, being dragged by circumstances trying to understand the world and asking "warum?" all the time) vs the older one wearing a dark coat (= a little pessimistic but taking action, playing the game of time, making moves willing to change things)... I wonder at what precise moment he will switch from yellow to dark. Let's hope we get a better understanding of his genuine character development through time after all three seasons.
