when it comes to currency, the assumption (don't know if the author confirmed it) is that jewel equals Japanese yen. considering fairy tail started in the 2000s and back then 100 yen was 1 usd, you can run with that calculation and consider 100 jewels as 1 usd. I'm pretty sure berries in one piece work that way too. Japanese authors love taking yen and swapping names to form a fantasy currency. with that in mind, Lucy is paying 700 usd per month for her place and 2 million jewel job is actually 20k. also, to answer your question about age, they're both around 18yo oh, yeah, be ready for more of Natsu and Gray's rivalry, and tbh it's pretty much one of the healthiest friendly rivalries in shonen anime. I just love it when the two of them start bickering lol I'm really glad you're enjoying fairy tail. I had been here when you were watching Naruto and it was really fun following your reactions.
