Honestly I think people find this bit slow because Naruto isn't in it lol. And for the people who don't care about any side characters at all they don't wanna see Tenten or Chouji or Neji fighting. They wanna see Naruto show up to fight. If you genuinely care about these characters then the beginning of this arc is amazing. I watched it come out weekly and I've seen every filler in this show and the original show and I've always loved these beginning fights because of the history like you said. Naruto isn't here but he's not the only character to care about and it really was us growing up with these guys, I started really watching Naruto seriously in 2005 or 2006, didn't know what a filler was and there was no list online of fillers vs canon so I just watched everything and the fillers give you so much more content with these side characters so I loved them even more getting to this point. This part of the war is amazing and full of emotion, people just get impatient and only want to see Naruto lol

That's the thing, even though there's been no Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi, Tobi (much of him anyway) I've had some of the most fun watching this arc. In fact, I think the start of the arc in the first few episodes has had some of my most hyped up moments as people kept saying it's the most excited they'd seen me so yeah, I'm suree when the time comes for those characters to come back it'll be crazy nuts but I just love everything this show has to offer, not just the core story threads.

The only reason i get slightly annoyed during this arc is the flashbacks. i get they show the history but when i was waiting a week for an episode that's mostly stuff i have already seen it feels like your only getting a few minutes of progress. watching it again now it's nicer cause i don't feel like i'm being made to wait? if that makes sense XD
