Gotta praise the soundtrack again. The OST playing during Deidara's final attack was getting me fired up for him actually. Rewatching this episode now, I'm actually not sure if it was Sasuke getting under Deidara's skin that made him blow himself up. He surely could have attacked from range since Sasuke pretty much exhausted his chakra. On a strength scale, I would rate the Akatsuki we have seen in combat so far, like this (1st being strongest): 1. Kakuzu - The 1st spot is pretty much between Sasori or Kakuzu. But I gave Kakuzu the edge due to having access to all elements, which as we have seen in this episode, is very strong. Well, he is also pretty hard to kill and very old, thus experienced in combat. 2. Sasori - Strong 2nd place among the Akatsuki we have seen. Killed the strongest Kazekage. Him being a puppet master is very scary. Tons of hidden lethal weapons, you would be basically screwed against if you get even a scratch, due to the poison. He has multiple tricks up his sleeve, hiruko puppet, 3rd kazekage (super op), his own puppet body, 100 puppets. I don't know how you fight him without grandma Chiyo. 3. Deidara - I love Deidara a lot. But it's easy to rank him here since he himself said that Sasori is probably the stronger one. He got hard countered by Sasuke but he still did well despite that in my opinion. He is a little hotheaded I would say, but still very capable as we have seen. 4. Hidan: Hidan is pretty much a 1 trick pony. Still very dangerous, but we haven't seen him utilize any other ninjutsu than his ritual. We have seen a little of Itachi and Kisame. But I wouldn't wanna rank them based on that. They were either not full on power or restricting themselves on purpose.

I agree with everything u said. That strength hierarchy is completely correct. Good analysis.

i like this combat so much, its one of the most underated fight of the series imo

I agree. In retrospect, it kind of seems very 1 sided. But seeing Deidara fight is just so much fun to me. I like his Jutsus.

You keep giving Sasuke way too much credit.

This whole fight is a big “no u”...Deidara uno reverse card Sasuke uno reverse card Deidara uno reverse card Sasuke uno reverse card Deidara *uno reverse ca- Fun fact: Both of Deidara's partners, Sasori and Tobi, predicted the circumstances of his death: Sasori stated that "people like him died at young age", while Tobi stated that he'd die from an explosion. Deidera was 12 and as seen in this episode, Deidara blew himself up at the young age of 19.Deidera was 12 when he joined at died here at 19. He stayed with the Akatsuki for 6/7 years. References and symbolism about Deidara: "Art is an explosion" - quote of real life artist Taro Okamoto. One of his artworks was inspiration for shape of Deidara's final explosion. http://www.spoon-tamago.com/2018/03/18/tower-of-the-sun-interior-open/ "Katsu" - in english sub it's totally removed (replaced with some generic "HA"... for some reason) but every time Deidara activates his clay bombs he shouts "Katsu". Katsu is a shout used in Zen Buddhism to stop discursive thoughts and helping with enlightened energy. It's also used in some east martial arts as kiai (martial artist shouts) so it can be also seen as a mean to focus energy. C4 Karura - Karura is Japanease version of mythological creature Garuda, known from Hindu, Buddhist and Jain mythology. It's portrayed as gold or red eagle with human body. Garuda feed on Nagas (serpent race) and are their sworn enemy, same as Deidara is sworn enemy to Sharingan users and fights here user of snake jutsus. And hatred between them also started with a bet in which Garuda's mother lost a bet to Naga's mother and became a slave to their race. Garuda was also a flying mount of god Vishnu so in a way it's also parallel to his clay birds Deidara uses to fly. Man, I just want to say, I really like Deidara. He was one of the more light hearted akatsuki members and you can tell he kinda really did care about tobi. He kept warning Tobi of his attacks and apologized before he detonated himself. The saddest part of the episode is when Deidara says "Sorry Tobi". As much as he was annoyed, Deidara truly tought of him as a good boy. On an another note Deidara is way stronger than Sasuke at this point. The only reason he lost was because he was being really cocky. Deidara was so angry that he didn't think strategically. I just want to stress how powerful of an attack the Nano bot explosions was. The explosives are so tiny that you breathe them in without even realising, and then get blown up from the inside out. It just was very unfortunate for Deidora as he did not know that Sharigan happens to be able to see chakra as colors. On literally any character other than Itachi or Sasuke, Deidara's attack would have killed his opponent. Remember the scariest thing about the sharingan is the powerful genjutsu the hold over their target, Sasuke stabbed him self to break Orochimarus genjutsu and Kurenai bit herself to break Itachis... I’m assuming Deidara used big brain energy here and trained his eye to activate a burst whenever his chakra gets disrupted (genjutsu does that)...it’s like a time delayed technique for Deidara Also Sasuke has plot armor because he is one of the main characters (not that its a bad thing). This fight also shows the power level between Itachi and Sasuke- Itachi won against Deidara within seconds, and Sasuke couldn't even beat him in a full fight. Again, Saskuke should win this fight as his story clearly isn't done but seeing him winded like that vs Deidara is very odd with how strong he (Deidara) should be at this point. To much time playing with his prey really put him in a spot lol.
