shippuden is better but without this it wouldnt have as much weight to it. Naruto got so many people into anime before shippuden. XD i can't wait!

Sasuke was a troubled kid way before Itachi killed everybody. We can see it here. He loved and loathed his brother at the same time, he resented his father for being strict but didn't believe him when he got praised. He seeked approval from his father and brother but took his mom's love and attention for granted. He didn't have any friends or goals aside from being stronger than Itachi. I feel so much pity for him because the only time he seemed really happy was when he was with team 7 and he even put that aside for his vengeance quest. He's such a weird character man I don't see the depth so many people see in him. Sasuke was never supposed to exist in Naruto's story but the author had to include a rival because it was popular in this genre. Sometimes I feel it shows in the author writing of Sasuke. For me it doesn't seem nearly as thought out and curated as so many other characters in this show. But it still makes for an interesting dynamic with Naruto, although it hurts the story as well, later on, in my opinion. Still, this part is very interesting.
