I'm currently working on a new, more detailed and thinner body model. You can see the progress in the image on the left (right is the current body model in the game). New model will have thinner proportions, mainly around legs, waist and neck. It also spot more polygons, displaying some body parts in more details. Both, old model and new model will be used in games from now on and will be included from the next update this month.

Will this also have a new skeleton with more joints perhaps? One of the main issues I have faced is posing hands and fingers in the animation tool, adding joints for fingers or at least the thumb should make it easier and look natural.

No, it will have the same amount of joints and they will be in fact on the exact same spot as the old ones. This way, the models are back-compatible. You can use animation from one model for another. I have realized that adding more joints in not very productive, given the amount of animation work done for the game. 99% of the time, you will use only the main joints. Yes, you can play with secondary joints, but the results are not too noticeable and given the amount of time you will spend on this, you could make entire another animation instead.
