If you follow us on Re:Library, then you've probably heard of it by now, but there's been a major change surrounding Demon Sword Maiden. Let's start with a lengthy story first.

It all began when our new translator were working on the chapters and one of his friend and senior translator at that suddenly asked him what were he translating. He told him about the novel and immediately got roasted by his friend about the title.

Apparently, Demon Sword Maiden isn't really the correct translation for the title as it gives to wrong implication and has a deep connection to Japanese mythology. It was then he brought this to our attention and we had a lengthy discussion about the title and terms to be used in the novel hereafter.

I also did my own research and found that the term  youtou (妖刀) seems to have a connection to Muramasa, which has been regarded as a "cursed katana". While I understand that Muramasa has also been translated as Demon Blade in some instances, that's not exactly accurate as the swords aren’t actually demonic, or in any way related to demons.

We have been hit with logic and facts that are lying all over the corner of the web that we are left with no choice but to go through with the name change. It is not an easy decision to make and it is with a heavy heart that we have to go through with this decision.

Meanwhile, I'll also take this chance to announce a few more terms that had been changed in this novel by the new translator:

  • Wind Demon > Fuma
  • Kengo > Sword Master
  • Kensei > Sword Saint
  • Green Demon > Blue Demon
  • Phantom Blade > Cursed Katana
  • Demon Sword Maiden > Maiden of the Cursed Blade (Title)
  • Demon Sword Maiden > Blade Maiden (To be used within the prose)
  • Demonic Element > Phantasmal Element (tentative to change)

The last three are still subjected to change, but for now, they're what we've decided to use.

Lastly, I also do apologize for the lack of update this past month. I know this may sound like an excuse but the translator is truly working on the chapters now. It may take a bit longer but we promise we'll definitely make it up for the lack of chapters by this month.

Albedo's Ahoge

Nice. I was worried that this was being dropped. Though to be honest, DSM sounds cooler than MCB

Onigiri

I like the new translation of kengo and kensei as I can understand and comprehend sword master and sword saint better.
