Hello! I have something special to share with you today.

I try to enter at least one game jam or contest every year. This weekend I participated in the Astrojone Lost Cartridge Jam 2. The result is my entry: Jetrabbit Valley-- a fuel management and farming sim created in one weekend, in the aesthetic style of the Sega Master System.

------

Manage your jetpack's fuel as you plant, grow, and harvest vegetables along the steep walls of a valley. Profits from your crops will upgrade your jetpack's fuel capacity-- letting you fly higher and higher to farm more of the walls.

------

Let me know your thoughts or if you have any feedback. Of course, there's tons of room to expand on a concept like this: I have plenty of notes and ideas that didn't make it by the jam's deadline.

I think that the most important skill during these kinds of jams is time management, including managing the scope of the project, discovering what's important and streamlining. In that regard, this one was definitely much more successful than last year's entry!

------

Anyways-- it was a fun and exciting weekend: but back to our regular schedule! I'll be working on some more graphics today-- and I'll be back with something new for you tomorrow. See you then!

Thanks!

I really enjoyed the various reactions the character had - things like falling from a great height or harvesting items on the walls. At first I thought I could just settle with grinding the lower walls until I discovered there were other seeds on higher levels. I reached tomatoes before I tried to fly too high and couldn't get back down again. Like Icarus, I flew too close to the sun! Great music from Ravancloak, Great art, Gameplay was novel and smart. I feel like there's something more that could encourage the player to fly higher, but it doesn't immediately come to me what that could be.

Thanks for playing! You're not the first person to make that observation :hmm: I appreciate it! Thanks
