Ken is mischaracterizing what happened at 19:20 with the lady suing McDonald's for the hot coffee. She was the passenger in the car as her son drove her through the drive-through. It was McDonald's policy at the time to have the coffee heated to 190 degrees and the woman ended up with third-degree burns requiring skin grafts. She sued for $20,000 to cover medical expenses and loss of income; McDonald's would only pony up $800. The documentary "Hot Coffee" goes over everything. What Ken is saying here is what most Americans thought of the case at that time. This is a really a clear example of how mass media and business interest collude to shape people's perceptions. That poor old lady was villainized, made the butt of jokes, besides going through the physical pain of recovery. I know y'all are just shooting the shit and have no ill intent, but given how that lady was raked over the coals and how so few people know the true story,I felt compelled to clear up the misconceptions.

Hard disagree with Kenny about the McDonald's coffee case. It was their policy to serve coffee near boiling, and there were actually a ton of people who were injured by McD's coffee. The woman only sued for her medical expenses. The massive settlement was assessed in punitive damages by the jury because the plaintiff's lawyer had collected so much evidence of how this had happened all over the country, and McDonald's corporate ignored the safety concerns and paid out peanuts to people who made claims. https://youtu.be/psebm9RJDvU

Mario’s laughing was so funny, as for Defund The Police - it was never implemented anywhere and many city police forces have had an increase in their budgets and no reform of any kind, the left has to take power in a substantial way before it will ever happen, if police used the slogan as an excuse to do nothing, that’s just more reason to defund them, there’s some serious abolitionists out there doing real work on it that get drowned out by annoying libs on social media spouting slogans with no substance to back it up

Also, the few cities that claimed that they cut their police budgets were lying for PR. Like in Austin, where they city council said they cut the PD budget, but it turned out that they had just privatized the department's crime lab, which was incompetent and years behind on case analyses.
