This episode we talk about several things, particularly my "Straight, Single and Smashing" theory of Black (and other nonwhite) male characters in action and drama movies and shows. Then we segue into the new wave of articles involving coining catchy dating trends.

Interestingly enough, Blade originally smashed in Blade 2 but they removed those scenes from the final edit. That's kind of why it's a little strange Blade looks so intimate with Nyssa at the end of the film. Here's a deleted scene with Guillermo Del Toro and David Goyer's commentary showing him looking very post-coital. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDtqNdJuixU

I guess I wasn't paying attention earlier when Mike mentioned having been a Jehovah's Witness. I would really be interested in hearing more about JW in a future episode, Mike's experience in the faith, and his experience leaving it, if that's something he'd be comfortable talking about. Seems as if there's been a bigger JW street presence lately, with the two-person teams manning those cardboard book displays at subway stations and farmers' markets around here. Also, a friend is mine is in the process of a divorce from her husband of roughly twenty years, who has been a lifelong Jehovah's Witness. For my friend's part, she refused to be baptized in the faith. Anyway it's been on my mind, and I think it could make for a really good episode for us worldly listeners

I wouldn't be opposed to a discussion of my time "in the truth" if that's something people would be interested in.
