Since I am just seeing this episode (because I don't know if it was available when I was not a patron). I am unsure if it was necessary for Rae to mention intermarriage rates among Asians. Latinos and Blacks comprise over 10% (I think 14 and 12/13% respectively) of the U.S. population each whereas Asians may not crack 5% yet. Thus rate for Asians is bit more sensitive and prone change than the other two major groups in the U.S.
