I am considering having a Discord server and maybe even hosting a bi-weekly chat or something on there. I would not actively run it though. It would not be an added tier; it would be included with the usual $5/month option.

I still plan on adding higher level membership tiers with added perks, but the Discord server would be kept on the $5 level, but only if there is interest enough in using it.

What exactly is a Discord Server?

I’m honestly not sure. I think they’re live chat servers of some kind. I just know they’re pretty popular and a few people asked about one.

a lot of people are loving discord its very easy to use once you get the hang of it, its an invite only chatroom and you can download the app for it, so you would get the link from champagne sharks and post it into where it goes you can also have commited moderators who can help the new joiners of the discord navigate it and provide general help which i would be glad to do T. im a big fan of the show and enjoy supporting it in everyway possible

I think I’ll take you up on that. My only question is, how do I revoke access from people who sign up for the Patreon then leave? Can that be done? I want to make sure only active patrons are in there.

champagnecommunist

yes when you create your discord channel you have to sync it up correctly with your patreon and itll give you access to boot out the users who arent active patreons for that month

champagnecommunist

if you have an email i can email you a document with the instructions for syncing your discord with your patreon i just turned my patreon into a creator account to test it out and it works fairly easy

It's a good, flexible and easy to use platform. Plus it's ad-free. There's an app or you use a browser. I started a server myself; it's an effective tool for building a long-lasting online community. The real-time nature of group chat makes for a more intimate and fun experience than something like Reddit or facebook.
