Chapter 214 – Anointment

Seeing the two women make their choice, I nodded. “Good. Now, strip for me, so I can see what I’m working with. I think that, since you came to me as a pair, a matching or mirrored placement on your brands would be the most pleasing.”

“Yes, Master.” Both of them knew their place, at least, and appeared eager for their new roles. This was good. However, I would need to know more about them before I tested one of the skills I’d picked up, but never had a chance to use. After all, I wanted the result to be fitting, not just to their abilities, but their personalities, as well.

Zannah had a statuesque beauty to her, thanks to her angelic race. Long legs led to a round, but firm, rear. Her stomach was toned, but not so much as to show abs, and her breasts were a lovely round pair of B cups. Her black hair in a pixie cut matched the black wings sprouting from her back nicely.

Maranda, on the other hand, was slim, and willowy, like most elves. Of course, that made her breasts stick out all the more. Sure, they weren’t any bigger than Zannah’s, but on her slimmer body they looked more massive. Her strawberry blonde hair was pulled up in a ponytail, but it looked long enough to reach a long way down her back if it were untied.

I nodded once as I looked them over. “Very nice. Very nice indeed. Now, where to put this?” Well, that was a silly question. Given this view, there was no question where I was going to put them. Reaching out to my new pets, I cupped one breast in each hand, Zannah on the left and Maranda on the right, and marked them so that, if they turned face to face, I would see both symbols looking back at me from their sideboobs.

Taking a step back to admire my work, and the bodies it was branded on, I said, “Good girls. Now, I’m going to do a bit of an experiment on the two of you. See, my profession allows me to do certain things, like adjusting your classes. Since you two haven’t been introduced to the world at large, I figured you would be the best ones to test this on.”

The girls, obviously, looked less than ecstatic to be guinea pigs like this. Not that it mattered since I’d put my brand on them, of course. Still, Zannah took a breath, and then said, “What would these ‘adjustments’ be, Master? And how would it help piss off the remaining people back home?”

“Well, that’s simple. Right now, your classes are a generic arcane caster mixed with a swordsman, and a basic rogue. Both solid, effective choices, but they could definitely get upgraded into something more impressive. Something with, say, a divine connection to me.” I winked at Zannah, and said, “I think your town would be quite upset if you became a ‘holy warrior’ in my name, no?”

The two girls looked at each other, and laughed. Maranda shook her head. “Oh, gods! That would be perfect! When we stopped through, they were almost apoplectic that they hadn’t been raptured when what clearly was the end times came, so they were in the middle of this big revival ceremony.”

Zannah giggled. “Yeah. They weren’t too pleased when I took the Pastor, the Mayor, my family, and a few others, used some items to turn the men into women, and tossed them all into Capture Balls. Still need to decide what to do to them on a more permanent basis.”

I grinned. “Well, I can certainly help with that. When we’re done here, I can whip up some slave collars. They will serve you as your acolytes and servants in your new church.”

“Ooh, I like the sound of that!”

“Right, so let’s get started.” I reached out to touch Maranda on the forehead. “[Class Retraining].”

Time seemed to slow, or maybe stop altogether. I recognized the feeling from when the Apocalypse first happened. Nice to see that the System was going to give me time to consider my options. As expected, a blue screen appeared before me.

Attention!

You   have just encountered the [Retraining] Menu. Both [Class Retraining] and   [Profession Retraining] work on similar principles. The Recommended Classes/Professions   will display classes that the System deems to be a good fit to the slave,   based on their Abilities, Race, Level, existing skills, and personality.   However, you are not limited to these choices, though choosing   non-recommended options may give inferior results.

Once a   slave has undergone [Retraining], they cannot be [Retrained] again for one   month.

That was interesting. My earlier worries about trying to find a class that fit their personalities seemed to be taken into account by the system, so it would provide me with a list of recommended classes. The cooldown looked like it applied to both [Class Retraining] and [Profession Retraining], and was probably shared between them, to prevent abuse. That just meant I had to choose well.

Recommended   Classes

Description

Rogue

*Current   Class* A well-balanced   class focusing on stealth, precision attacks, mobility, and acts of thievery.   Trained in dual-wielding weapons.

Scout

*Uncommon*   A combination of Rangers and Rogues. Focuses on mobility and attacking on the   run, with greater emphasis on ranged attacks. Good for exploring wilderness   areas.

Ninja

A   stealth-based combatant, using primarily melee attacks or thrown weapons.   Relies on evasion and dodging for defense, as armor is too restrictive for   their acrobatic abilities. Has some ki-based abilities.

Battle   Dancer

*Uncommon*   A melee combatant that relies on mobility and her looks as a defense. Dancing   skill unlocks other abilities, and her unarmed attacks become empowered.

Temptress

A socially-focused   class focused on seduction and persuasion. While lacking in offensive   capabilities, she is able to twist men’s hearts into whatever shape she   wishes.

Arcane   Trickster

*Uncommon*   A more magically-inclined version of the Rogue class, able to cast some   arcane spells to bolster their stealth and melee combat abilities, though at   the expense of some of their precision damage.

Divine   Agent

*Rare*   A stealth-based class reserved for those in sworn service to a god. Retains   many of the base capabilities of a Rogue, but also has some divine   spellcasting ability, allowing them to better serve as their god’s agent in   the material plane

Hand   of Kuronoth

*Super-Rare*   A class reserved solely for those sworn into the service of Kuronoth, Demon   Lord of Pleasure and Domination. Skilled in stealth and dominating in social   situations, the Hand gains a small measure of divine spellcasting ability, to   enhance their abilities.

Looking at the list, I was impressed by the number of options that Maranda had recommended to her. Most of them were roguish, naturally, though they focused on the stealth and mobility parts of the class. Temptress looked like a useful social class, if someone knew how to use it to full effect, and Divine Agent was a very interesting one, indeed. But, when I saw a class with my name in it specifically, I had to pick it.

Maranda Cortez

High   Elf Female

Level   30 Hand of Kuronoth / Alchemist

Market   Value: $230,875

The moment I picked the class, time sped up. Maranda staggered back, her skin glowing black for a moment, as my power flowed into her, changing her. When she recovered, she looked at me in wonder. “I am your Hand, now. I still have all my old skills, but so much more is open to me!”

I nodded to her. “According to the skill’s description, you should be able to trade some of your old class skills for new ones, if you like. I’ll leave that up to you. It will be interesting to see what you make of this class, as you are the first ever to receive it.”

“Thank you, Master!”

Zannah looked at me, wide-eyed and hopeful. “Will you be giving me a new class too, Master?”

I chuckled. They were so worried before, and now they were like kids getting a treat. “Of course, my pet.” And, with that, I reached out and placed my hand upon her head. “[Class Retraining].”

Description

Spell-sword

*Current   Class* A class   that combines a balance of both arcane spellcasting and physical combat,   relying more on magic and mobility than armor for defense. While swords are   mentioned, the class works equally well with other melee weapons, and is   proficient with ranged weapons.

Eldritch   Knight

A variant   of the Fighter class that focuses primarily on melee ability. Wears heavy   armor, and can cast a limited number of arcane spells to augment their   physical capabilities.

Red   Mage

*Uncommon*   A variant of the Mage class offered to those with some divine affinity and   martial prowess, you gain the ability to use both arcane and divine magic, as   well as wield melee weapons with some skill. However, it is a strictly   generalist class, lacking the power of a specialist.

Mageblade

*Rare*   A specialization of the Eldritch Knight that further refines one’s melee   combat skills, and can channel arcane spells through their weapon to injure   foes.

Holy   Sword

A class   that combines a balance of both divine spellcasting and physical combat,   relying more on magic and mobility than armor for defense. While swords are   mentioned, the class works equally well with other melee weapons, and is   proficient with ranged weapons.

Dark Paladin

An unholy   warrior of the dark gods, this individual combines martial prowess with divine   casting ability, as well as being able to channel the power of their deity   directly in some cases.

Mystic   Theurge

*Rare*   A potent blending of the Mage and Priest classes, allowing an individual to be   a powerful spellcaster with both arcane and divine spells.

Dark   Archon

*Rare   Racial* This class is only available to those with Angel blood as part of   their race who have sworn themselves to a particular deity. Transcending the   normal limits of mortals, the Dark Archon is skilled with melee weapons, as   well as both arcane and divine magic.

Sword   of Kuronoth

*Super-Rare*   This class is only available to followers of Kuronoth, Demon Lord of Pleasure   and Domination. A skilled melee combatant able to cast both arcane and divine   spells, their focus on enchantment and illusion spells makes them a dangerous   foe for any enemy of Kuronoth’s faithful.

The first thing I noticed was that the fallen angel had a LOT more class recommendations than her friend did. That could be explained by the fact that she was already in a hybrid class, which opened up additional options to her that a more generic class, like Rogue, might not. Of course, most of the classes looked like they were all variants of each other, mixing arcane magic, divine magic, and melee combat in different measures. But all of them had weaknesses, as they gave up things for the additional capabilities.

Dark Archon was a very interesting class. Angels following a specific god got access to some interesting abilities, it seemed. From the description, it looked like the class was supposed to be their deity’s wrath, or avenger, able to smite enemies while healing allies, and offering some arcane magic along the way. Very formidable, on paper, at least.

Sword of Kuronoth, on the other hand, looked like a more specialized version of the Dark Archon, but not requiring angel blood. A focus on enchantment and illusion would give her powerful weapons both in social settings, and on the battlefield. Of course, it was mostly the social settings I had in mind for her, so this was perfect.

I paused just before selecting the Sword class. Was it really so easy to get powerful classes linked to my faith? I understood Zannah, since she was a follower of mine before she came to me, but Maranda was only newly taken into my service. How did she get access to a class with my name in it?

And why hadn’t I seen other classes with deity names in them? Especially when that Golden Host invaded, even the former Champion of Pofmis was ‘just’ a Golden Crusader, with Champion apparently being a title. Was there something more to it? Like, because I was directly involved, that is what opened the class to them?

And then something clicked. According to what I’d read, the System didn’t allow people below a certain age (depending on their race) to access the system, or pick a class. This was probably for the best, considering I’d hate to see what a toddler with the ability to throw fireballs could do, but it did mean that their early years could change their options for a class or profession in the future. So, since these classes were Super-Rare, did that mean they were only open to those who had direct intervention from a deity, or could someone raised within the church and made zealous enough in the faith be given the option?

No point in wondering about it. It would be a long time before I had any orphans running about my church for my people to raise in my image, and longer still before I saw any results. Not to mention the fact that those drawn to my faith weren’t exactly the most nurturing. No, no point in wondering about it, so I selected the Sword of Kuronoth.

The dark light glowed from Zannah this time, as my power flowed through her. As I watched, her feathered wings flared blacker than their normal black, until they almost sucked in the light, before settling down to their normal color, almost. On each feather, my symbol could now be seen in red against the black of her wings.

Zannah Bane

Dark   Angel Female

Level   30 Sword of Kuronoth / Enchantress

Market   Value: $450,500

It appeared that Angels were more closely tied to their divine origins than I expected, since the change in her class forced her race to change, as well. But then, I guess that wasn’t entirely unexpected, since turning from her former goddess probably made her turn into a Fallen Angel. Since she was rededicated, she was no longer fallen.

Zannah’s eyes opened, and she said “How may your sword serve, Master?”
