Back when Youtube started "integrating" with Teespring, I put a few designs on t-shirts, stickers, etc. on a shop there and hoped that Youtube would display a "merchandise shelf" under my videos like it said it would. It never worked (that I know of), and Teespring has been fairly clunky to deal with.

Then Ian McCollum introduced me to his friend artist Justin Baird, and Justin took an interest in revamping my "cowboy raven" logo and creating some Norse-inspired designs with the word "drengr" in runes. I like his work quite a bit, and I've started integrating the refreshed logo into new video uploads for October. Meanwhile, I'm trying another merch service that supposedly integrates with Youtube (and seems to work better for now), Spreadshop(my shop's URL is: https://jackson-crawford.myspreadshop.com/ ). As you can see from the sample above, I've taken a few of Justin's designs and put them on a pretty wide selection of merch, not just the usual t-shirts and stickers but also teddy bears, backpacks, thermoses, etc. Check it out and see if you like anything; Spreadshop offers 15% off in the first two weeks of a shop's existence, and I just created this one today.

I hope everyone is well out there otherwise. I look forward to hopefully seeing you at this weekend's live interview with archaeologist Ármann Guðmundsson.

Thank you as always for your incredible kindness and support,

Jackson Crawford

P.S. My Patreon messages don't work. I don't get notifications for them, and there's nothing on my home page to show me when there is or isn't a message. I can't even always see them when I check for them manually, and you won't see it if I reply! The best ways to get in touch are: a) just to comment on posts like this, b) to post in the  Community page, or c) to email my assistant Stella at [admin AT JacksonWCrawford.com]--remember the 'W' between my first and last names in that domain name.

Welp, I now have a shirt on the way. :) That drengr/axe (tall) design is just too nice to pass up. I might have to see about getting the apron for christmas.

Completely of topic 🤣 but I am looking for the gender for the Norse word for "Hafi" (ocean). Is it Neuter?

Anonymous

that's interesting bc the masculine word for ocean in Latin (oceanus) is masculine

Anonymous

There are also masculine words for ocean in ON, like sær.

Anonymous

Is sær used as a different description of the ocean? maybe like "the sea"? Or something else?

Anonymous

We are going beyond my knowledge at this point, but I do believe sær is cognate with English sea.

Fair enough buddy 🤣 thank you for letting me know I'll jot it down in my notes rn 🙏🏻

The gender of words is pretty arbitrary, and even varies a lot between different Germanic languages (German 'Buch' is neuter, Old Norse 'bók' is feminine). I wouldn't attribute anything meaningful to what grammatical gender an inanimate object has. Luke Ranieri covers it well here: https://youtu.be/3AnG3tbwlIw
