In case you missed it this week, at popular request (and especially Patreon request), I restarted a series of Old Norse lessons ( https://youtu.be/FJd_eOzgbgg ) designed to help a beginner get a good start reading the language.

I thought it might make sense to feature the runic (Younger Futhark) spellings of the vocabulary for each lesson, plus a little extra context for some of the vocabulary, in the Patreon "Words of the Week" video. Let me know what you think of that format.

I'm amazed at the feedback I got from you all about experimenting with my intro. But I heard loud and clear that most of you prefer a longer one, so I also went back to a longer format on the first Old Norse lesson video on Wednesday (I'll probably still stick to a shorter one on shorter and less "Norse" videos).

As always, thank you very much for your generous support, and all the best,

Jackson Crawford

Update 06/23: I inadvertently left out some of the runic text, here are the missing words:

ᛘᛁᛅᚴ  mjǫk
ᚾᚢ  nú
ᛅᚢᚴ  ok
ᛋᚢᛅ  svá
ᚢᛅᛋ  var (vas)
ᚢᛅᛚ  vel
ᚦᛅᛏ  þat
ᚦᚬ  þá

Patreon Vocabulary 23: From Old Norse "Class," pt. 1

Dear Dr. Crawford, I'm wondering if there could be something done with organization - precisely things are organized using several different terms - class, lesson, vocabulary, words of the week; across three different channels, patreon, youtube, and vimeo. This makes searching, cross-referencing and utilizing the resources time consuming and more complex than it needs to be. Take this video, vocab 23 corresponds to class 1... oy. I've made a word document with links so that I can try to follow along in some kind of order without having to spend the little time I have to study Old Norse doing searches across websites to find the corresponding supplementary material. If the objective is to make learning more accessible, this would be a wonderful place to spend some time, simply unifying titles, and perhaps using a folder in each platform to separate these videos from other videos. All of that said, please accept my deep gratitude for this work. I feel it is so important, and I am so grateful that you have created this channel. Finances have been extremely tight for me personally lately, and even though I've cut off all kinds of memberships and monthly payments, I continue to offer my tuppence to support this channel because it's so valuable. Thank you!

See what you think about the way the index of videos is currently set up on my website: https://jacksonwcrawford.com/list-of-videos/ Under "Old Norse Lessons," you'll see a link to the exclusive Patreon post (and video) that accompanies each lesson.

Well, shut my mouth... that'll do it quite nicely. Thanks!
