Here's a Patreon-exclusive video with the big announcement I've been waiting to make.

For those of you can't watch the video, here are the main points:

1) In September 2019, Hackett is publishing my surprise third book, titled The Wanderer's Hávamál. This is a stand-alone edition of Hávamál (without the rest of the Poetic Edda), and includes not only both my translations of Hávamál (the "normal" one and the Cowboy Hávamál) but also the full Old Norse text produced by me after a careful examination of the Codex Regius manuscript. Plus, there is my commentary on the Old Norse text and a few other bonus Old Norse texts that shed light on Odin but don't appear in the Poetic Edda. A standalone edition of Hávamál with the Old Norse text has been a big request for years, and I'm happy to be able to do it my way in what I hope you'll consider the definitive edition of that text.

2) I have a hard time scheduling livechats very frequently, and for this and other reasons the system of taking translation requests during livechats has become unpopular. So instead, from now on send your translation requests to Stella at admin@jacksonwcrawford.com and Stella will send me a weekly digest of those requests, which I will then respond to in a weekly post on Patreon. Please continue to keep your requests to one a month and to keep them short. If you just want one word and aren't in much of a hurry, feel free to send me a Patreon message and I'll put it in my list of upcoming "Word of the Day" features on Patreon Lens.

3) Discord has been pretty dead for a while, and both Stella and I have a hard time making time to maintain the channel with so many other jobs and projects we have to work on. So I'm going to shut down the server a week from today, but I will periodically host Patreon-exclusive livechats by other means. To start with, I'll try using Youtube's live videochat for the next one (but I need to finish The Wanderer's Hávamál before I do anything else).

The Wanderer's Hávamál is due to Hackett this weekend, and it will be published in September. I hope you're as pleased with the news as I am.

Super excited about the Wanderers Havamal! Being southern and Scandinavian I appreciate both versions immensely.
