September in Review (Patreon)

The "ranch porch" series was a new direction, with me talking about personal interests like the poetry of Robinson Jeffers for the first time, or else sharing personal opinions on getting published, going to grad school, or (most popularly) Ásatrú. As many of you know, I try to keep things pretty "neutral" in my main videos as I want people of any background to be able to accept information from me without feeling like I'm pushing some kind of ideology. But it's been nice to talk about some other things and just express some thoughts, so these will probably continue (though at a slower pace than during September).
In mythology, there were some remakes of very old videos, like Old Norse words for gods, and some new topics like the ways individuals in the Eddas go to and from Hel as well as fairly popular video on misconceptions in modern portrayals of Norse mythology. And although they were late August, I enjoyed the wild choruses that helped with the remakes of wolves and ravens
Old series were continued, with another installment in the deep-dive of Grímnismál (I plan to finish this with one more installment in October, not recorded yet), and a long-awaited continuation of the Old Norse lesson series. I already have three more installments recorded and ready for October, so this is revving up again after a few months without as many grammar or vocabulary videos. The origin of the runes was a related language-history topic that I got into this month.
I also met Wardruna and Eivør Pálsdóttir, which it seems like a lot of viewers had wanted to see.
And of course, I've been recording the audiobook of the Poetic Edda, ready for release on November 13th. Today is the last day of recording, when I'm just going to re-record any stanzas or paragraphs where I might have slipped, and also record some of the "meta" text ("You've just listened to...", "Continued on Disc 2...").
In October, one thing you can look forward to on top of the usual updates is that I started using a microphone. The first video with it has some feedback mistakes, but after that it's smooth sailing--I asked the sound engineers at the recording studio where I'm reading the Edda to teach me to use the microphone better. I'm also including some Patreon shout-outs at the end of videos starting in October; obviously I can't include everybody in one video, but a few people at a time.
Thank you as always for your support, and have a great October!
