Today begins a very stressful part of the year, as the University of Colorado begins finals tonight (yes, Saturday tonight) and tomorrow night (yes, Sunday night) and continuing through Tuesday, and we have only 90 hours to grade once tests are submitted—with more than 200 students, that is a little bit of a challenge. Then I’m going to have a lot of family obligations during the rest of May (and hopefully some fun by the end of May) which are going to tie up my schedule too. All of this is to say that I am going to be, no doubt, slower than normal on getting back to you over the next few weeks, and I hope for your forgiveness.

´On the other hand, I have videos for the next couple of weeks already uploaded and scheduled to post automatically, so I’ll be able to keep to my schedule. Over the summer I’m also going to experiment with some extra weekend videos about other fun subjects I’m interested in besides Norse things (one is already made, and pending final edits will probably get posted in mid- to late-May).

I’ll leave you for today with this picture I took a few months ago: my oldest copy of the Poetic Edda is breaking apart at the spine at exactly the same spot in the text where the original manuscript lost a large chunk of pages.
