Crimson, an Introduction (Patreon)

Crimson is book 2 in the Tristan series, which follows Tristan and Alex through their tumultuous lives and adventures.

This book is Alex’s story, as he goes from a distraught office jockey to man on a mission with the quest of rescuing his lover from the grasp of a deadly and treacherous mercenary no matter the cost to others, or himself.

This was actually written 4th, within what would be considered the draft 0 version of the books in this series. I had written what would become Shattered Salvation, as well as Once Broken and thought I was done. Then I realized Alex went from a meek person in Tristan, to someone working with the Samalian in what was then called “the old man’s gambit” as a hardcore merc. Just how had that happened? So Crimson happened.

My own goal was to show Alex’s transition. I didn’t expect it to become the volume it did, or for the story to become as involved as it did.

The epilogue was added once I was done with the first draft because while the book had shown Alex’s transition; I felt I needed to show how he’d found out where Tristan was living so the next book would be properly set up.
