Hated the husband, too. Actually have heard about preventive surgeries when you have a high risk of getting certain types of cancer and I think it's a good thing. And that husband has a very shallow love if all he cares about is the way she looks, her sex drive and the fact that she can't walk around barefoot and pregnant. Please, sir. Adoption? If the person I love went through this, I'd hold their hand and be their support. And if this means I have a much bigger chance of spending more years with them, cancer free, I'd be all for it. If this was meant to be a glimpse into the kind of shallow friends and shallow life that Derek led in NY, then it did its job.

Angelina Jolie did the same thing in regards to breast cancer and ovarian cancer prevention. In 2013, she had a preventive double mastectomy after learning she had an 87% risk of developing breast cancer due to a defective BRCA1 gene. Two years later, in March 2015, after annual test results indicated possible signs of early ovarian cancer, she underwent a preventive salpingo-oophorectomy (removal of an ovary and its fallopian tube), as she had a fifty percent risk of developing ovarian cancer due to the same genetic anomaly. Her mother had breast cancer and both her mother and grandmother died of ovarian cancer. She wanted to make sure she would always be around for her children, so they wouldn't lose their mom. Because of her openness about the testing and the measures she took, millions of lives have been saved. ❤️
