Pamela Chandler Rash

He spent years listening to Diana(Reid's mother) talk about his "adventures". To a already unstable person, she created a fantasy for him and he started to believe it. Diana was the one that convinced him that his daughter didn't exist. While none of it was her fault, she kind of fed into to psychosis, making him become obsessed with Reid's team. Then it morphed to them fixing him by saving the girl, he knew he had some attachment to her but shoved deep down that she was his daughter to protect himself.

Yess so glad to see Season 2 begin! I understand not liking the choice for Randall Garner's motivation being majority psychosis. It won't make it better for you, but to clear it up i guess, the reason he kidnapped his daughter was because he's delusional and truly believed he was basically the mastermind in a King Arthur tale and that all his kids were dead, but that Rebecca was actually a Holy Grail, like she was the trophy to win in the quest and our BAU team were the knights that needed to save her and heal him. Basically everything boils down to his extremely unstable mental state. Like you said, everything that connected him to the team was through what he was told by Reid's mom. Plot wise, I can agree that it's probably kind of weak. But storytelling wise, I like it because it made it possible for us as the audience to get to know the team even more. Best part of this show for me goes beyond the cases and into the actual BAU themselves, so anything that's heavy on the team's personal lives ends up being my fave lol I am so glad Gideon irritates you because he does the same for me. I understand that's his character and that he does care about the others, he just shows it differently, but in all the times I've rewatched the show, I've never been able to truly like him. Hotch though, yeah he's stoic and a hard ass, but he's much more transparent when it comes to how he feels for everyone emotionally. He's always generally very gentle with Garcia, he cleaned up Elle's blood because of his guilt and because he didn't want her to have to come home to that. And his statement to Garcia about helping didn't feel like he was blaming her, I think he was trying to make it known to her that he really values her help and things she came through on this case, especially because of how hard Gideon's been on her, so he really wanted her to know.
