This episode was amazing. I can't wait to watch this reaction later on. I loved the Lex Luthor is alive reveal. The emergency of the Beast. The Clois moments! I even liked seeing Lana Lang even though her timing was terrible when she came to the barn. That ending with the music was perfect! That ending ranks as the top 5 best Smallville endings that just had you up and ready for the net episode. I remember watching it live and going crazy.

Don't feel bad for your feelings about Lana. You are not alone. Now you understand why a lot of fans are a bit negative towards Lana. She regressed the story progression.

Lool Great analogy. The only reason that I found Lana being a "spy" lol legitamate or at the very least semi-believable was because of her final arc before she left where she stole a grip of Lex's money, faked her own death etc. We also saw that she had a passion for saving people effected by meteor for 2 main reasons. The first was because of Clark's heroic and good influence on her which she sincerely admired and wanted to emulate, and the second would be linked with lex. Even that has 2 sub points imo. First would be her shared enthusiasm and curiosity of the extra-terrestrial with lex (back in season5/6) which lead her down the path of knowing more about them. The second and I think main motive linked with lex would the evilness she saw from Lex where he'd exploit those people and her seeing herself slowly slipping into accepting those methods of doing things as justifiable (Ends justify the means) and to over correct, she went on this path of Good like we saw with her opening the Isis foundation for the meteor infected and then slowly but surely saving/helping people became her main passion in life. In her last few arcs (especially her previous one) we notice a strong theme of Lana wanting to be like Clark in regard to heroism and meaningful purpose & having a positive impact on people and the world at large. All this is partly her attempts of some sort of redemption from delving in too deep with lex and seeing a dark side of her she never thought existed. Oh, btw in regard to her beliefs of Lex being dead or not she says in the episode she's not convinced he's alive which implies she's not 100% sure. So, her being there makes sense (if we wanna go the spy lol route) because Lana still had to do her due diligence and check out the warehouse. Coincidently meeting Oliver, who makes a "compelling" request for her to attend the wedding Yada, Yada, Yada. Now, could smallville have just brought her back as old sweet, normal, reformed Lana Lang for the wedding ABSOLUTELY and it still would've worked in terms of the tension creation between lois and clark but my argument here imo is that this storyline for her as well isn't out of the realm of possibility with all the context i've stated. If my memory serves me correctly the next episode is LEGIT!! Especially a specific line uttered in it, Smallville fans know what i'm talking about

I might be in the minority but i LOVED lana’s return, I was so relieved that they weren’t reducing her character to the damsel in distress again and she had her own identity. Also, I think it’s important to note that the comments like “just sleep with oliver” are a little crass and unnecessary, you don’t have to like the way it played out but let’s not reduce her or any person to that. Anyway love lana lang, I could never really get into the clark lois thing after being invested in clana for seven seasons.

I also enjoyed her return but I get why he said that. He only said that because he was into the clois storyline and didn't want it to be a Clana thing again, which is an understandable expectation with her return. I also agree it was a crass way of saying he wanted the writers to have lana fully move on and possibly go another direction (Ollie Love interest) which would put his heart at rest by ruling out any clana possibilities moving forward. Clois was going so good, I get where he's coming from. (In the minority as well But I also enjoy this arc also and the way the show went about it)

Lana is awesome and loved this episode. I am definitely a clana fan, even though I hate these ship names and whole defining a character on who they end up with. I was so glad to see her coming back more badass then ever. And I think, more mature than ever! Also, Clark will always choose Lana over Lois, and I think that's the main reason fans of this show are hating her. I would not have minded Clark ending up with Lois, as long as Lana was still in the show. But even the most reluctant fan would know that was never going to happen. Even you Steven. You said so yourself Lana had to either die or something extremely permanent happen in order for Clark to end up with anyone else. My guess this feeling is also the reason you did not enjoy Lana's return. Because let's face it, if she was going to return, she would return at an important moment, in a big episode. Not in a random one. Like Pete did, sadly, which was a shame.

Steven, I just watched your rant about Lana Lang at the end of the episode and trust me you are not alone. Majority of the people felt your feelings because at this point Lana was probably the most hated character of the series… I didn’t hate her but I think majority of the viewers were Lana/Clana fatigued. In addition to that, the start of season 8 was incredible and showed that Clark had outgrew Lana so just her being there regresses the story in a way but luckily it didn’t bother me in this episode but trust me as a person who watched this live back in 2008… people were just as outraged since she wasn’t missed. Lol
