I love this episode. I think it was so important to have an episode like this early on in the Season, with Turner making a mistake with Shawn. It was bound to happen, so it's good it was early on and easy to fix. Like you said, Jon is still young and he wasn't really prepared for taking care of a teenager. And it's even harder with how much Shawn has been through. But I love that scene between them at the end there. The moment when Shawn asked if he was gonna kick him out hurt so much, and the look on his face when Jon said that a fight doesn't mean someone has to take off. It really shows what he's used to with his parents. It's been made clear that his Mum has taken off more than just this last time, last Season in the episode she took off everyone's first reaction was that it's happened before. No one was surprised that she'd left, it wasn't until her taking the trailer was mentioned that anyone was really concerned. So Shawn is used to fights ending in someone walking out. And especially this last time, with both his parents just ditching him without really seeming to care what happened to him. He's not used to the idea of working through problems like that. So it's good that Turner made it clear that they just had to do it better next time and they agreed to just be honest with each other if they need some space. I also loved that last moment with them where Turner realises Veronica is behind the couch. It was just a good little joke to end the scene, showing that Shawn was STILL trying to get the rest of that date that he wanted so bad. It's also understandable that Shawn wasn't exactly thrilled by the idea of having his date at the Matthews with all those rules. Yes, Cory and Topanga are both okay with it, but that's because that's what they're used to. Cory's always had parents who care, who give him these rules and a curfew and all that, and Topanga has too. She's got parents who care and have rules and probably a curfew too. Shawn's never had that. His parents didn't care where he was, when he got home, what he was doing. He's not used to having these rules. And even Turner, who obviously has rules, is probably a bit more lenient than the Matthews because he's DIFFERENT to them. It's like when he was staying with them at the end of last season, he couldn't take it because all these rules were too much for him and he felt suffocated. It's like what he said at the end of the episode about feeling like the walls are closing in and there's nowhere he can just be alone. He's used to having a certain amount of freedom that isn't given as much at the Matthews. So I think it makes sense. That sorta thing is just all about what you're used to. As for Eric, this is just the writers realising what they've got with Will Friedle. They started it last season, with making him a lot more goofy. Plus, the stuff with Cory could easily be chalked up to him getting older. Growing up. Plus, he was upset with him for not passing on the message from Topanga.
