Agreed that most pilots aren't the best episode to judge a show. Ugly Betty was an exception. Heartstopper, too. Phenomenal. But a lot of INCREDIBLE shows have lackluster pilots. Even kinda crappy first few eps. They pick up somewhere along the way...so not too sure which route you should go with this...

Since Criminal Minds and Greys have the most votes, you could have both by having Greys replace House since you are almost done/ are considering not finishing and then have Criminal Minds replace Glee. They are both long shows, but have pretty loyal fan bases and I think you would enjoy.

I can't vote because I want you to react to Dollhouse but also Degrassi so...

I Am Not Chamari

I am sort of in the middle on this, so here’s my recommendation. Pick one show from the list of pilot episodes you’ve already watched and start reactions to that. This could be you picking which show you liked the best. With other things you haven’t watched, I say go with the most votes, but still treat them as if they’re replacing another show on the channel. So using degrassi to replace Glee (I know it didn’t get the MOST votes, but it got a lot of them) and one of the procedural shows to replace the other procedural show.

Jane the Virgin! It's so good and unique and I don't see many react to it. I'd love to see how you like the pilot

But it looks like, reacting to the pilots is winning. I’ll say that Degrassi’s “pilot” episode is a 2-parter and you should watch both episodes. It would be a total of 44 minutes.

I think for reactions to work you have to actually have some connection to the show. If a person watches something out of obligation and they're not really feeling it you can generally tell from the reaction. I think viewing the pilots and trusting your own judgement is better for a long term system. Granted some shows aren't fully formed until after their pilot so it's not foolproof. But I do think it's the most logical way to approach it.

Jonathan

I would love for you to watch the pilots. The more you enjoy the show the better the reaction and I don’t want whatever new show to seem like a chore especially considering the length of some of these shows

this!! this would also solve my own little peeve ive been having with the discussion of stopping a show halfway through when it stops being "worth it" to me if you're invested in the show you'll want to see the characters through til the end and i think him being excited about the characters and invested will really help with that "might as well stop here" feeling. for me i don't want him to watch a show he's not into. it makes for a crummy reaction and that isn't a fault against him. no one can be entertaining or have fun with something that they've felt forced to watch when it's not enjoyable. i'd rather him have fun with it. i'm sponsoring heartbreak high each month and he genuinely enjoys that so much and it makes for such fun reactions. if he wasn't enjoying it i'd stop my sponsorship of that show. but seeing him have fun makes it more fun for us watching too. i definitely agree !

this is my thinking. let grey's replace house. his complaint with house has been no arching story. with grey's it's the total opposite and it'd be kinda dope if his reactions could almost touch on comparing similarities and what he liked and doesn't like between the two medical drama shows. i agree with criminal minds or even bones to replace glee.

emily ღ

i so agree on the replacing shows with similar genres. if someone is here only for glee they might be so inclined to stay if a replacement show is sort of in that same genre

oh god lol everyone has such good arguments for each side of the coin...this is gonna be a difficult choice lol i gotta say it's so awesome reading through the comments and hearing everyone's genuine feedback and good ideas! it's cool seeing that, and this community you have here

Terri

Love Dollhouse and Anne with an E. The procedurals are tough though. I say watch the pilots and pick which you like best.

My top picks are Degrassi grey's and this is us! I vote watch the pilots but Degrassis pilot doesn't do it justice it's gets so much better

cruzinbosco

I just want you to enjoy what you're watching, so I kind of want you to pick something. I remember that you picked Gilmore Girls randomly to watch and that ended up being a great decision for the channel. ❤️

Usually with most shows you don't truly get invested til few episodes in, not sure how many of those shows you could tell from the pilot it's going to be for you or perhaps even thought the opposite. But it's probably way more fun to dig into a show that pilot looked interesting right away, so I totally hope you pick something you're looking forward to already.

thisismaria27

my two cents: don’t be afraid to start a show that’s long if you like it a lot. but decide for yourself which show you personally prefer. we enjoy it more if you enjoy it too :) also fyi grey’s anatomy may be a long show but it’s not a procedural at all ;)

Zach Faulkner

I may be biased because my highest rated shows are also the ones getting lots of votes in the polls. But I also think at the end of the day, your goal is to not only make great content but be financially rewarded for it. So my concern is if you do a pilot for all these and then pick your favorite, it could possibly be one that's a lower vote getter and while you will enjoy it, will it bring on extra stress of you being unhappy that the #'s aren't there for viewership on that series? But whatever you decide is best i'm on board for.

Angie

i disagree, as many pilots are obviously not the best and how many shows have you watched and loved from the pilot? Most of my favorite shows, the pilots are 'eh'. Shows tend to get better as they progress.

911, the first episode and season draws you in. after that it honestly becomes a more wholesome, family ish type show. when i say family, i mean more as a viewer you feel closer to the characters and the characters bond tighter as family with the storylines. its a really beautiful yet messy show to get into. no regrets!
