Don't forget they put up the house as collateral. So if the club is in the black and failing, then they lose the house. So, yes they need the money.

Also, Piper expects certain places to be as she says "Demon Free." Of course, that's unrealistic in her life, but she tries her best. The fact that leo set this demon killing up at her"Demon Free." place without asking her is what makes her upset. With the relationship they have, she expected him to at least come to her first. She would have most likely agreed anyway. It's just the fact that he didn't ask or talk to her.

I actually like Darryl in this position much more than I would Andy. Like, Andy has always been the Love Interest and a character who was trying to figure out their secret. Darryl has a totally different dynamic with the girls and I love it.

Right. I think it's actually totally in her character, after a year of magic and battling evil, it makes sense that she craves some piece of normalcy and demon-free zone. She is protective of the club that she just opened, which isn't doing so well and she is trying to get it going. And demon eating people ain't exactly gonna help with that.

Yes I have always loved the way Darryl is portrayed. I like the connection he's building with the girls.

Leo going through the club searching for the band manager in the opening scene of the episode SHOULD have been our very first look at Leo in season 2. This should have been released as Episode 3 of season 2.

Back when this aired on the WB, every show on the WB purposely showcased some bands or artists' music in their episodes. And after each show's final scene of the episode, and right before the final commercial break started up, it would say "Tonight's episode of featured music from and play for you a snippet of the music they're referring to from the ep. So for this ep, after that final scene where Steven cuts off the feed, it said "Tonight's episode of Charmed featured music from...DISHWALLA! " At the beginning of the episode, you're supposed to understand that the girls (and the club) are in the red from when Piper said something to the effect of "It'll be better when the club is back in the black again." Meaning they spent far more in the many improvements that Piper needed done on the place in order for the club to be ready to open, and when it did, it wasn't performing as well as they had hoped it would.

It's true that restaurant would've made a lot more sense for Piper, cooking is her passion and she already knows how to run it. I guess the writers thought this would've been ’cooler’, plus the show gets some pretty recognisable musicians on it, and some scenes in the future just make a lot more sense if sisters own and run the club, rather it being some random club in the city. Piper did overreact to Leo, he’s kinda trapped with his obligations, the way I always saw it is that she's incredibly stressed from opening the club, it not doing well, she finally gets a break and it's demon related, Leo didn't communicate before at all....just a lot of things at the same time overwhelmed her and it looked like a reaction from someone who's very frustrated, so yes, it's annoying but understandable. Would've loved to see Andy in same role as Daryl too, he didn't need to continue as a love interest, but the help and involvement from police side was great. Guess it's better to give this role to one actor and give him more lines, more substance, rather than split an already supporting smaller role, Andy had his time, now it's Daryls turn. This episode is skippable to me, glad you enjoyed it, next one is pretty funny.

I maintain, and it's backed by I think the entire fandom not to mention the cast that are on the House of Halliwell podcast, that the first few eps of season 2 are massively out of order. They plan to ask a writer or producer about it if they manage to get one of them as a guest for a future episode. I can't wait to hear the answer. I think the episodes being so wackily out of order is to blame for the weirdness in the Piper/Leo dynamic. They're meant to portray how Piper wanted a real relationship, with more normal things in it like dates, etc. Meanwhile, Leo only shows up when he needs her to perform her Charmed duties. It's why Piper mentioned in this episode that it's as if there was never a relationship between them and wondered how they ever managed to get married in the future if they never make the time or effort to even be a couple in the first place. I get her being annoyed about Leo just showing up for that. She also wanted to keep P3 demon-free, which is why she said "not at my place." Piper didn't boycott going after the demon. She helped with it, but she still couldn't help feeling agitated. Out of all 3 sisters, even above Prue now, she wants a more normal life. She wanted one aspect of her life, meaning the club, to be magic-free. All of that, I guess, and the stress of opening and running a club that's still finding its footing led to her slightly exaggerated reaction. I get it, though. I think that's the whole point of Piper even liking Dan. He's a normal guy. The most normal guy she's liked in, what, close to 2 years now? Counting however long she was with Jeremy? Also, I think you may have missed a few clues in the beginning of the episode to show that the club wasn't doing well financially. All businesses take time to grow enough profit to cover their start up. Prue and Phoebe mentioned them being in the red, which meant they WERE in debt. Remember, they took out a loan with the house as collateral. There was also a scene with Piper doing the books before Jenny showed up at the club to ask about Dishwalla. She started out with a certain amount then had a list of expenses listed below and ended up being at something like minus 24k. Piper doesn't seem as worried as Prue and Phoebe because I believe she's a tad in denial. Does she know about the house being collateral? I genuinely forgot that part... I wonder how everyone feels about Jenny. I never liked her. Apparently some of the cast didn't care much about her character either. They had nothing against the child actress but the character itself was just annoying. Yeah, the Barker storyline was the one I was least interested in, rivaled only by Jenny.

Also I am REALLY enjoying seeing more of Darryl. I feel like he's got a much more satisfying presence than Andy did. With Andy, we were really relying on his relationship with Prue. With Darryl, I just see a more natural flow. Maybe that's nuts but 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

Robke

Yeah Jenny goes between OK to plain annoying. A stereotypical teen girl, there's not much else to her. Actress plays this role well though, not many child actors manage to appear natural in their roles, maybe she was normally like this lol

charmed_olive

I always thought Jenny's character was so unnecessary. Like why is she there at all?

Nyssa Rawther 🍉

Maybe they originally wanted to give the girls and Dan something to bond over? He's not just a typical bachelor, he's also looking after his teen niece which is such a daunting task he needs to ask the pretty girls next door how to handle things...but yeah she's unnecessary. Even in this episode. Her role as the innocent bait could have been filled by literally anyone.

DC

Just a tiny correction: the club is in the red. In the black is profitable or break even.

DC

The subplot is pretty bad and not realistic. You can't have a hostile takeover of a private company. Buying the debt from the bank only profits him from the loan interest and/or if they default. He can't just come in and do whatever he wants. It'd be like someone buying your home loan from the bank and remodeling your house without consulting you. You own it, the loan just has a lean. For the second mortgage, the house is the lean. For the club, it's probably just the club.
