it's wild thinking about how far medicine has advanced. people are really scarily allergic to bees still today but we've come a long way in identifying allergies and having tools for those that do have allergies. i can't even imagine back then. anthony had so much thrust onto his shoulders. the very day he saw his father die in front of him, his mother is kicked out of her bed chambers and the rooms given to him. supposedly. he didn't go through with that, did you notice? she's giving birth in the bed that she says she always gives birth in. just something to take note of HOW anthony chooses to take his role and what he still permits his mother to have out of sheer love and respect for her. i love that we're getting this backstory. it's so well done!! and i love that it's what brings kate and anthony together, the PTSD he has over the bee and how she talks him down from his panic attack. that's why they work so well together and with one another. they know how to talk to each other, to break through to one another on a certain level. it's lovely to see. poor violet! i can't even begin to imagine. also the book goes more into detail but the thing anthony is most terrified of is dying early, like his father. he needs to marry but he doesn't want to leave a wife behind to put her through the pain his mother endured. so he'd rather marry for convience to someone he shares a companionship with, but that doesn't go beyond that. so when, in his mind, he dies in a few years (in the book he's legit so terrified he's going to die in a few years) she can move on without being so affected as his mother was. it's a selfless act he's choosing, but he's sacrificing his own happiness and chance at love.

I love that episode too, it's one of my faves. I am really glad you're warming to Kate and that you love Anthony's backstory. This season is better than season 1 for sure - maybe bc we see the more rich and interesting characters more at the forefront of it all like Eloise, Pen, Anthony and Lady Danbury.

I don't know maybe its just me and because this episode has a lot of good moments but I feel like you were looking at your phone a lot or not even watching lol like I get if you have to look something up or question something but if it pulls focus for so long I would just pause the episode so you don't miss anything.

he missed the watch! i hope he saw that going back to edit, it's such a good moment. and you can see why anthony treasures it so much

also i want to expand on my comment on the watch real quick....his dad is giving him advice here, comforting him. anthony has always been slightly Anthony(TM) as you can see in his frustrations over the deer. his dad is grounding him (in the calming sense) and comforting him. he opens the watch and checks the time. flash forward to "present" day bridgerton, and you'll notice anthony doesn't just reach for that watch to check the time haphazardly. he reaches for it when he's stressed, overwhelmed, etc. it's the closest thing he has to his father that can ground him. i love that little detail so much and i hope you caught in when editing!

i am so happy too that he's warming to kate! i think he was a bit too hard on her at the start, but i'm glad he's seeing her character more. everyone in bridgerton is multifaceted, and i enjoy that he's letting himself see those different sides of kate and opening up to her character more. she's a favorite of mine for sure!! i felt like season 1 sort of was setting the stage and introducing us to everyone. know that we know most of the main group we follow, it can focus on utilzing those strong characters at the forefront. i love it!
