i remember there being like this distinct cut off with this show. i was a sophomore and one of my friends was a freshman. i stayed over at her house one night and the next morning she was SO EXCITED to get up early and watch hannah montana. i'd never once seen an episode and as someone who loved lizzie mcguire and raven, i was sooo confused on why she loved this show so much. the entire time it felt like a skit from an episode of "the amanda show" or something. but she was so, so into it. and that was how it went. so many of us had moved onto other shows and networks and i remember the grade under us being so into like HSM and the jonas brothers, etc. and those of us in the grades above were like "huh???" i tried to watch a few episodes, because with suite life and wizards i felt like i could still find some of it funny. that was never the case with hannah. it always felt like a skit from all that or the amanda show to me with the humor, but it wasn't meant to be a pardoy and that always kind of confused me lol oh god i sound mean having just written an entire comment dunking on this show but i am legit going to watch this reaction and see if things have changed. was i just being a snotty teenager thinking i was too grown up for this show? or is it really that bad lol i'm gonna give it a chance and see lol

Thanks for reacting to this! To be honest, I didn't expect you to love it, as the humor is definitely directed towards a younger audience. The series actually does tackle some more mature themes later on though, such as loss of a parent and an episode about diabetes. Hannah Montana is in the same universe as Suite Life, Raven, and Wizards and appears in an upcoming crossover, so now you at least have a little more context about her as a character

So this show wasn’t written for Miley originally the character was named zoey and they Changed the name of the character when they casted her. When they casted her they casted the dad.

I always thought Hannah Montana was the weaker sitcom of that era tbh. The music was always good to me, but the show itself always left something to be desired, especially in Season 1. Season 2 and 3 I remember being better, but again, I haven't returned to it as much as I've returned to Wizards or Suite Life. Although, I can very much say, that I was super into HSM and the Jonas Brothers and sstill to this day find them FANTASTIC lol

I think Miley is a great actress and she did not get the part because of her dad and her dad at first didn’t even want the part because people would think she got it because of him. This is actually a really good show and does get mature and I would consider this to really be up there with the best Disney shows.
