This is a pretty excellent first episode. I agree with everything you said. The creator and the writers really did a good job of acknowledging the cultural significance of HSM and paying homage to it, while still making a whole new thing. It also feels reminiscent of Glee as well. I love how meta the whole thing. The style of the show you’re referring to is mockumentary, aka mocking the style of a documentary. I also love that they do covers of HSM songs as well as original songs, it all works so well.

Awesome! I agree, this is a great episode and I think this show has so much more to offer with more episodes. I’m not exactly a “hardcore fan” of High School Musical, but I love watching musicals nonetheless and I really like this show! I’m glad you enjoyed! :)
