Honestly, I am not mad at Cory here. Turner told them they wouldn't have to take the test if they did what they had to, and they did, which made the kids feel betrayed. He also hid the test as an assessment, so he clearly knew he was wrong, even if we know he HAD to do it. Maybe if he explained it better, saying they wouldn't need to take tests in the future, the kids would be on board. I also think trying to cancel the dance made NO sense and was unfair. It gives very "we're adults and dont care about your opinions cause you're just kids" vibes. T say you need a 'job' to go on strike is ridiculous. There are many strikes not involving work, and kids are REQUIRED to go to school, so they're allowed to protest if they deem something is unfair. I just think the concept of the episode would work better if the protest was ...for something bigger? Like, show the lead up to how much the kids were enjoying the book and doing their work, so the argument is bigger. We know they did read but since we didn't see it, it just seems like they were whining. If you feel like you've been treated unfairly, i think that IS worth fighting for. Also, the whole time he was talking about how they still get their lunches made for them and they're just kids not struggling out in the world and they have a home, i just kept thinking "Shawn's parents dont make his lunch and he lives in a trailer park, so". But so far that's only been mentioned, so i'll forgive the show for that.

even mr turner kept saying if he was then he'd have done the same thing to him, he knew it was unfair and a messed up thing. like he told them one thing and then rescinded on it last minute while trying to be sneaky because he knew they'd see it as a betrayal. i think this showed a good divide between mr turner's new school methods and mr. genus old school methods. i think the kids read the book and wanted something to be passionate about and fight for, so when they saw a first taste of something they saw as injustice while also being something they felt at their level they could fight against and change, they jumped at the chance. they probably see real injustice every day but feel powerless. here's a book that makes them feel empowered and a cause they feel they can directly bring about change against. i can see their point entirely, as did mr turner at the start.
