Yay I'm so glad you're watching with original music finally :D if streaming quality isn't great, just download the episode to your device. Intro song might grow on you, if it doesn't at least it's better than the replacement and won't make the rest of us cringe

I PROMISE you, the show gets so much better, you just gotta hang in there. More compelling storylines, less cheese, interesting villains/demons, character development, etc. Season 2 and 3 are my all time favorites, season 4 too. I’m also really glad you found a way to watch it with the original music, it’s actually really important

"He might be one of the worst bad guys on TV that I've ever seen"...man, ain't that the truth. This episode was so awkward. I didn't see it before this rewatch cuz I've never seen Nightmare on Elm Street until Steven reacted to it here, but I get now what they were trying to accomplish. It's just so weird though cuz there's no way Andy and ESPECIALLY Morris would immediately jump to think that some dude with a half ass connection to one of the victims is responsible for all the deaths. And there's definitely no way they'd connect the whole dream thing. The actor who played the Dream Sorcerer was also super creepy and not in a good way. I don't know what made him deliver his lines that way but it has ALWAYS bothered me. It was so monotone. Maybe he was trying to up the ante on the creep factor but there's no way Aaron Spelling, who was known to be so particular about every detail to the point where he didn't let the three main actresses get a haircut for the first season cuz he wanted a very distinct physical difference between them, didn't have a say in that. It was weird. I hated it. This was NOT a good episode. Cheese up the wazoo. Can't wait til we get to the better episodes so we can get to the amazing ones. Highlights of this episode for me: Kit the cat getting tom cats chasing after her and Prue sassing the Dream Sorcerer right before ending him.

On another note, I'm so glad you're seeing episodes with the OG music. They have really great song selections that set the mood right from the credits. Always makes me feel like I'm ready to dress up for a crisp San Francisco day and get to work, even when I was 7 watching for the first time. I can only assume Steven was talking about Robke and their amazing work uploading every episode with the OG music on. Thanks Robke!

cil

yeah the villain in this one was laughably bad lmao

For real, Andy and Morris didn't need to even be in this episode. Honestly, their whole investigation was a reach solely to include them.

Terri

I think Andy might make that leap just because we've seen that he really believes in the occult stuff. They did set it up that the deaths were REALLY unbelievable and wouldn't occur naturally. For example, the girl falling from a 20 story building...in her bedroom. They were impossible, which probably made Andy jump to the occult assumption right away. That's probably why he was able to easily connect it once he found out the dream sorcerer's job. However, I do agree that Morris would never have jumped to believing it. Even at the end, like Steven said, I don't buy him saying he'd never doubt Andy again. That's just not how it works. There wasn't enough there for Morris to suddenly start believing. Yes!! Cheese is overboard here. Honestly I prefer the "B" story in this episode with Phoebe and Piper's conjuring of a man and finding out how a spell can go wrong. I don't think the Dream Sorcerer would be THAT bad if they hadn't picked this actor or maybe he was told to deliver his lines that way like you said. That's actually what I was thinking because there's no way a director would let him get away with that if he wasn't told to do it. I think they thought it would make him creepy. Instead it just made him cheesy and weird.

Terri

REALLY bad. It basically plays out like a parody of what they were going for.

Terri

YES!! Thanks so much for providing the episodes! It was such a better experience for all of us with the original music. That replacement music was so freaking bad. I was bummed that Steven didn't get the original music for the last episode, which was actually good.

Robke

Well he did look up the original scene so at least he knows how it was supposed to sound ;D I have first few seasons on this device, but I vaguely remember last couple having a different intro on my laptop, so I need to check them, but that won't be an issue for years. One person last time mentioned she has full 8 seasons on some drive, gonna ask her about the latest ones just in case.

Terri

Yeah, I mean I have the SD version on my PC, but I know the better HD is what Steven is into. I might have some friends that have the episodes in HD though. I'll check too.

Season one is hard for die hard Charmed fans to get through so for you lol I know its a struggle. I get its probably hard to see why people love this show so much right now with a string of bad episodes. It does seem a little strange to have a comment section telling you to pretty much just power through a whole first season to get to the good stuff but its true. Remember this show is popular and had along run for a reason!

charmed_olive

Omg, YES! The original version, Steven found our comments and Robke's links) Yelling in the comments actually works :D I think I speak for everyone in this thread when I say that Robke is MVP here.

I don't mind them investigating the case, but I think the writers just overreached with Andy and Morris just jumping to conclusions and stuff. That part just wasn't written and explained well. I always thought it would've worked well if they did the investigation part super subtly and ultimately left it unresolved. What I mean by that is they would investigate this super weird case of this girl dying what seems to be an impossible death, discover there were more like her, they decide to reinterview the boyfriend of the first victim(as a witness or possibly a suspect), realizing it's very unlikely he could've killed the girls. But maybe Andy doesn't like him and just has that cop hunch in his gut that maybe this guy did have something to do with it, although he doesn't have a shred of supporting evidence to that. Then when they return to talk to him again they witness him dying a strange violent death in his sleep without anyone even touching him. In the end, they are just left completely baffled by this case that ultimately just goes into an unsolved case pile. Like it's not even explained in the end what exactly Andy and Morris think happened, Andy just concludes(as I understand it) that the guy killed the girls while in his sleep and then died same way, and Morris just believes him for some reason, even though he's the Scully to Andy's Moulder. And the "bones" line in the hospital was weird since it's implied that I guess Andy suspects the guy was trying to kill Prue in his sleep coz she was also asleep at the same time after her accident, I guess? Like they should've kept it just as a weird unsolved case, that they can't explain, that is just another weird nail into Andy's growing suspicions and theories that there is something more going on in this world.

charmed_olive

I don't remember minding him when I watched it for the first time. But then again, I was like 9 then, so... But now he makes me cringe so hard every time. Like WHY DO YOU TALK THIS WAY?LOL

charmed_olive

I wouldn't say the whole season is bad, but I agree that overall it is the weakest season and its where some of the worst episodes of the show come from, but I think once you reach and power through episode 6, you pretty much have lived through the worst of Charmed and the only way is up) Of course I'm not saying that there isn't a stinker episode here and there (like a certain episode in season 8 I like to pretend just doesn't exist, but on that later)I think halfway into the season one show starts to improve considerably and already much easier to watch even though there is still some cheese.

charmed_olive

Don't love this episode and mostly skip it on rewatches. They had a great concept for the story and the villain, but they ruined it with the villain casting, and Andy/Morris side of the story execution, which I already said everything in a comment earlier. On the other hand, the episode had good interesting moments. I think Piper/Phoebe's secondary story line was actually good. It let us dive more into the consequences of reckless magic and probably personal gain. They put that spell to meet that perfect guy, instead, the spell just made men around them blindly fall in love with them to the point of obsession. Also, I like that little feminist moment with Prue and Piper where they talk about women always trying to match the expectations of men around them to deserve their love instead of thinking about what kind of qualities they want in a man.

cruzinbosco

WOW. I completely forgot Matt Schulze (the villain) was on here! I thought I only knew him from the Fast and Furious franchise. Wow, that is crazy. Yeah, this episode isn't a favorite but I like it a lot more than most of the ones so far. It's interesting, the guy is beyond creepy and literally makes my skin crawl so that's good. It felt really... real, which is ironic for an episode about dreams. I give it a 7.

Tammy L. Faulkner

Pretty sure it was the horrible pick-up lines that stayed Phoebe from those guys in the beginning. BTW, it's not that Matt Shultz is a bad actor, it's that way they wanted the character to be... creapy, emotionless and it possibly was supposed to be related to his overall disability. Also, Andy was really referring that case, and the red rose came from the cart of flowers the girls ran into the wall.

Robke

Yeah the actor might be fine, just the portrayal of this character is so bad so we say he's bad even though most of us understand it might not be the actors fault.😆 I get the reasoning behind love spell. Yes they can attract a man with no problems, but they wanted the right one, the dream man. No pun intended

Robke

I knew he'd notice sooner or later, just wasn't sure he'd be comfortable streaming this way ;D

Amanda P

I will say I think the season starts picking up with episode 8, that's when they finally found their footing and it just gets better from there. It makes me sad to see the negativity people have towards this show, it's such a beautiful and amazing show and it's so underrated. I really hope you'll continue to like it. Some episodes are rough yes but so many shows have bad episodes and seasons lol it's not just charmed and I think people forget that

Trevon

Maybe they suspected him because of the way he was talking lol
