I remember the first time I watched this episode I got bored and didn’t really pay attention, but now it’s one of my favorite episodes. Love the slow introduction to Martian Manhunter. He was the one leaving the Oreos behind.

Your ending sentiment is why the show resonates still with me today. When it hits, it hits better than some of the other teen shows I saw at the time. I truly miss when TV used to be more frequent, with these longer seasons and it being present in our lives for like 9 months out of the year. New TV is all about these short seasons and then taking 2 years for the next season to come out

My top 3 favorite shows in order... 1) Charmed 2) Smallville 3) Supernatural. Buffy makes it into my top 10 for sure, just not 5. Maybe number 7 or 8... any who, this is one of the episodes that made the show stay in my top 2 for so long. Just like you said... when they go there, they go there.

While the "insane asylum" theme is a television trope, I agree they pulled it off very well in this. Jorel as soap was a nice touch lol. IMO this is the season Smallville really started to hit it's stride.
