I think Lana is falling for Lex' lies because he always makes a big deal out of it whenever he is telling her something. He's always been " if you really want to know I 'll tell you because I trust you" which makes her feel more important. As for Clark being so little in the episode, Tom is going to direct soon, so he needed time to prepare and had fewer scenes this time.
