I love the guest stars this season

Oliver got it right, they were all responsible for Duncan's death. Oliver just felt more guilty about it because he is a better guy than Lex.

When Clark says "Sometimes we keep secrets from the people we love..." and Lois responds, it's to raise two points (I agree the word choice was in poor taste by the writers and did not age well). The first point is that Lois calls out the idea of a partner keeping secrets from their other partner as being a bad idea. We, the audience have seen this that this is why Lana and Clark broke up, because of secrets. The 2nd point is that if your partner is the right partner they will be strong enough to bear the burden of your secrets with you. It's subtle but there are two moments in this ep where Clark gives Lois a surprised and admiring look. One is when Lois responds to his "Sometime we keep secrets" statement. The other is earlier when he suggests she back off and she replies that she is going to "man up", act like a real reporter and save her boyfriend. Clark respects that she is acting to protect her partner, this is why he calls her back when he breaks into Duncan's room.
