angel basically made a deal with wolfram and hart that he would come work for them if they erased connor's memories (and everyone's memories of him) and also gave him a new life. he wanted to protect connor and he knew the only way to do that was to give him a new life with a stable family/home.

2022-12-31 08:13:32 This episode is really great. I love getting to see the inner workings of Wolfram and Hart. And getting to see what each of them would get if they took the jobs. The only one that we didn’t really see what happened was Gunn but that does get explained in season 5. This episode feels like a hard reset for the series and having team Angel take over W&amp;H is such an interesting concept and an amazing new direction for the show. Season 5 is my personal favorite of the show. Some of the all time great episodes of the whole Buffyverse are in Angel season 5. As for this season, what we got wasn’t the original intended storyline. When Charisma Carpenter got pregnant in real life they felt they had to rewrite a lot of season to write in that pregnancy. And it has since been documented that behind the scenes Joss wasn’t happy with that and basically took it out on Charisma.
