I know that what Andy did was bad, but what Ben did was worse. Andy was using a random guy with no emotional connection to and had none to her and just tried to get him to end it before any attachments would really even happen. Ben, however, went into this with the goal of getting a woman to fall in love with him.

also you just said "they could do a pt 2....20 years later, they could have kids." you should 100% see "before sunrise" and "before sunset." filmed 19 years apart, it's a beautiful series :)

Merissa Childress

so many funny moments! For me the princess Sofia scene, the weird looking children and her dancing will always make me laugh!

Steven you asked why they don't make films like this anymore. Well, because it's become a minefield of sorts. First off, they all sort of follow the same story pattern. Usually they don't like each other in the beginning but then slowly fall in love until short before the end there's some kind of blow-up and no matter who caused the blow-up, it's up to him to make the grand gesture at the end so that they can live happily ever after. But often these movies are also spiked with some terrible tropes. Just imagine either of these two people had not been playing their own game. Then you have a person that either makes someone deliberately miserable or pretends to be falling heads over heels just to get ahead at work. In Hitch, Eva Mendes' character destroys Hitch's career and income based on the offhand statement of a douchebag liar. But in the end it doesn't matter because they fall in love!

Well, they follow the same script to some extent, just like most horror movies have their thropes, and action movies. But to me the movies that are made today are just as repetitive and full of potentially problematic storylines. The big difference is that now movies are supposed to be sarcastic, edgy while back then there was a market for these kinds of more idealistic, lighthearted movies that didn’t take themselves so seriously. And more important we didn’t take these kids of movies seriously either, there were no discussions about movies in the same way, they were just entertainment, nothing more!

I enjoy these kind of classic romcoms as well, I have bunchs of them on DVD. I'm just saying that current day producers might be a bit wary to touch this kind of story with all the hashtags out there.

I recommend their movie Fool's Gold. It's super funny as well and has a good cast

If you like Kate Hudson you would prob like some of Goldie Hawns comedies as they are so alike. First Wives Club, Death Becomes Her, and Overboard are a few great ones. Also, Private Benjamin and Wildcats, although it can be hard to source the last one.
