You know I understand why you feel that way about Oliver's relationships and i feel the same, but I gotta say about Laurel, I see it happening in real life. I don't agree with Laurel, Sara and Oliver's way of dealing with their relationship, but I know that there are people that are as trifling as that so... This is also why I like Barry's relationship with Iris from jump. They show the unhealthy with Oliver and they show the healthy with Barry, where even if he likes the girl he respects her even if she is with someone else and doesn't treat her badly.

There is a reason The Flash is the most popular show in the arrowverse (and also the show with the highest ratings on the CW). They have a variety of great characters and as you said they do the lure of the big villain really well too. My favorite part has always been Barry's backstory and his relationship with Joe and how that drives him to do what he does.

Flash has its dark moments too but the writers just do such a great job of balancing it out that you don't feel too depressed to watch it or anything.
