This episode was too much lmao I love when Supernatural gets meta

Jared is actually married to Gen.

Lostmyshoe22

Misha actually sent those texts out to the fans

Lostmyshoe22

The stunt coordinator was the only actual person from the crew that appeared in this episode as himself. Well there was also a scene where the stunt coordinator was being interviewed and the stunt doubles fighting in the background were actually Jared and Jensen‘s stunt doubles.

Sara Gamble is the showrunner that took over in season 6. Robert Singer is an executive producer and occasional writer and director. The Character of Bobby Singer was named after him. Jared married the actress that plays Ruby in real life. They started dating during season 4.

The running gag about them not talking was made up. They’ve been really good friends almost since the beginning. They even shared a place during filming early on in the show and were groomsmen at each others weddings.

Please tell me you didn't watch this episode after Buffy! You really didn't seem your cheery self.

Such an awesome episode! Nice and refreshing after other emotional episodes this week :P. The French Mistake title comes from the movie Blazing Saddles which has a similar breaking through the fourth wall scene and a song called The French Mistake. There was a lot of real-life meta in this episode, but it was mostly exaggerated. For example: - Jared does not live in a mansion with photos of himself on his walls, a tanning bed, or with an alpaca in the backyard (both Jared and Jensen own houses in Austin TX, and they lived in apartments in Vancouver when filming and flew home to their families in TX on the weekends) - Jared is married to Gen in real life… she was in the credits at the beginning of this episode as Genevieve Padalecki… and that was their actual wedding photo shown in the episode. They also have 3 kids together. - Jensen and Jared are best friends in real life and even live next door to each other in Austin. It was a fun gag in this episode that they don’t get along because they are actually really close and have been since Season 1. - Jensen had the option to have some of his (exaggerated) personal life shown in the episode but chose not to - Jensen does not actually have an aquarium or a helicopter in his trailer… but that was him playing Eric Brady on Days of Our Lives back in the late 90s - Bobby Singer really was named after Executive Producer Bob Singer. Bobby was originally only supposed to be in one episode (1x22) as a one-off character, so they jokingly named him after Bob Singer… and then he became a regular and a fan favourite! - Most of the crew were played by actors, except the stunt coordinator, Lou Bollo, who played himself (and J2’s stunt doubles). In fact, the actor playing Bob Singer is Bill Murray’s brother. - J2’s driver, Clif, was also played by an actor, but the real Clif is their bodyguard - I’ve met him at conventions (as well as the real Bob Singer and Jim Michaels). Clif played ’Tiny’ in episode 2x19 (Folsom Prison Blues)… oh, and he apparently had a cameo in this episode as the guy tossing mud onto the Impala - Misha did in fact send all those tweets in real time as the episode aired - Sera Gamble had been with the show since Season 1, but took over as showrunner for Season 6 and 7 when Kripke left. So, the guys did know who she was, despite what the episode showed :P - The thing with the ratings and people not watching was that for the first few seasons, the show was ‘on the bubble’ every year - they had no idea if they would be renewed or not and they almost got cancelled several times. It wasn’t really until season 8 onwards that they were pretty much guaranteed renewal each year (the CW got a new president who loved the show and said that as long as J2 wanted to keep filming it, Supernatural would continue... whereas the previous CW president didn't seem to care for the show)

Director Robert Singer and Eric Kripke were played by actors. However, Bobby is really named after Singer and Singer was also an exec producer on the 90's show "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" where he worked with Dean Cain (director Singer references this). When the episode originally aired, Misha Collins ("Mee-shah", not "Micah") actually live-tweeted the tweets that were seen in the episode. Genevieve Padalecki (formerly Cortese), Ruby's actress, is actually Jared's wife. Prior to this, Jansen had a one-season stint on Smallville's fourth season (where he was written out for Supernatural) and back in the day he was on "Days of Our Lives" If they were disharmonies on the show I do not know but I think it was made up for the episode.

Also: I think the scene in the gun store was a reference to the first Terminator movie where Arnie collects weapons in the same manner.

Reed James

If Jensen and Jared are best friends explains why they show lasted so long.

Scarlett Monrow

Eric Kripke asked for his character to be killed in an-over the top manner.

In "KM Motion Picture Studios", the K and M stand for Kim Manners.

Sherry Garcia

Jared has said at conventions that he kept the picture of him riding the horse and auctioned the prints of him and Gen for charity.I posted this somewhere else, but please keep reacting to the gag reels, they are very funny and give you a glimpse into how much fun they have and really are like family with their cast and crew.

Sherry Garcia

Also,as in sure you will see by the votes even at 15 seasons this episode is still a fan favorite!

There are 3 episodes of Supernatural I love 100%... THIS being one of them.

TheMew

I don't know if anybody noticed but the set where they fight the Angel is the sewer one from the Dragon episode. Makes sense since it was only a few episodes ago.

TheMew

I don't know if anybody noticed but the set where they fight Virgil is the sewer one from the Dragon episode. Makes sense since it was only a few episodes ago.

TheMew

You were looking at your phone again and totally missed the one crew member dodging the bullet when Virgil was shooting at everybody after Kripke. See this is what people are talking about. I mean it's one of the moments I always thought was funny in the episode because everybody else is getting blasted away and this guy just casually leans back out of the way it's a small moment somebody could miss if not paying attention and just wait till the end of the episode to look stuff up. Sorry don't mean to be that guy it's just kind of annoying when we are watching to see a reaction to a moment and get to it and you look down right then.
